The simplest bull case for Hyperliquid is that markets provide signal. If you price Hyperliquid based on the fact that it's at least 417% more valuable than ICE or 46% more than CME based on trading hours alone, you get a range of $685 to $2,070 per HYPE
When you consider CME even had to shelve their plans for 24/7 trading, I don't think this is a terrible way to have a sense of the value Hyperliquid creates by offering totally uninterrupted price discovery
We get to watch $TSLA demo a literal flying car and run to our screens and long $TSLA perps on @HyperliquidX 12 hours before the rest of the world wakes up and sees this shit.
What a time to be alive. I refuse to be a bear.

Hyperliquid → Derive in under 30 seconds.
How it works:
- Open Deposit on Derive and pick HyperEVM as the source
- Select USDC and choose the subaccount you want to fund
- Enter the amount and confirm
The USDC is routed from HyperEVM to Ethereum and lands in your Derive account.

Derive ethereum:0xb1d1eae60eea9525032a6dcb4c1ce336a1de71be is trading at ~65x fees post citrini if you annualize this last month. In theory that's expensive but not when you look at growth:
* SEP '25, $663M notional, $142k fees, $35M mcap, 35% buyback, ~20x fees
* SEP '26, ~$5B notional (up 7.5x), $705k fees (up 5x), $388M mcap, 35% buyback, ~46x fees
Looking forward, Derive just launched their V3 in the first week of this month and passed a vote to raise buybacks from 35% to 50%. When you're evaluating the fair value of the protocol, it should be based on what you expect the future earnings potential of the protocol to be
All else held equal, if Derive can 5x fees again, then you're really looking at a forward ratio of just 9x. That seems incredibly reasonable to me. But that's not what I'm pricing in. I fully believe right now is the moment for options. The growth could be spectacular:
> For some context from 2023 to 2024 perps volume on Hyperliquid increased 10x from $52B to $560B (a 10x, similar to the year Derive just had). Then from 2024 to 2025 perps volume went up another 5x BUT fees went up a blistering 88x from $11M to $971M ! When you're the leading protocol in the category your volume is typically healthier with a lot of revenue producing volume (revenue isn't 1:1 with volume, different types of trades, leverage, liquidations, different markets, etc... impact how this works)
I raise the hl example because I want to be full hearted about what **could** happen with Derive. Would I be surprised to see them 10x'ing, 20x'ing, or even more for their fees? No.
In that scenario what should Derive trade at? Say you want a 20x multiple on the leading options dex that just did a 10x of fees, Derive would be trading at ~$1.6B (about $1.50 per coin). Scenario's where Derive can more than 10x fees or command an even higher premium on the back of a rising options super cycle get you to prices in the $5-$10 range [within a year!]
All of this is just to say that the current price for Derive seems pretty damn fair to me. If the Citrini post teleported the coin to $2, I'd be a seller right now. But we're sitting at a pretty reasonable spot if you're debating at least building a starter position while you watch this thing in the long run.
Last thing, yes this is all based on execution. You're absolutely making a bet that onchain options will grow largely this coming year & that Derive will likely not keep it's 90% share but that it will remain the largest player. But the good thing is you can just watch the metrics and be patient. There will be months that perform better than expected. There will be months that perform worse than expected. Such is life. For now I'd say let's all patiently watch Q4 in light of all these cool updates Derive just made and keep evaluating with reasonable eyes. If Derive crushes it, buy and hold. If they flop, sell. Just be patient before making either choice
With respect to competition:
* Jeff has pretty much confirmed Hyperliquid is not building vanilla options and will be sticking to Binary options for the foreseeable future. That's fine, he's gonna make a gazillion dollars just by winning the perps market, but binary options are inferior to vanilla options so I'm not worried about the competition. And if he does lock in on vanilla options, it's fine. I hold a bunch of Hype and am happy to ride that thing to $1,000
* The Lighter team says they're launching vanilla options in late Q4. First, we'll see if they're on time. Then we'll see if they can compete. I'm not going to sell the leading options protocol with 90% share in the middle of an options supercycle just because of some boogyman
* Variational, Hypercall, and any others all seem kinda small and irrelevant at this point. I'll make an opinion on them if they start to matter
note: the stats screenshot shows October which is still less than 1/3rd over. There were also some low metrics in the first week of October as traders were waiting for a successful V3 migration (makes sense) before putting size back into options trading and market making. So don't worry too much about the last candle on these charts

want know at an instant whether IV is cheap or expensive😏
will ship it this soon on derivativesmonkey.com
Dark Red = Expensive IV
Dark Blue = Cheap IV
Recently bagged some DRV. A lot of people in the space are using it. Plus, the options UI is super old-school, which should attract a bunch of OG traders. Hitting $1 shouldn't be an issue, right?

1/ Liquidity is definitely a factor but the fundamental reason for volatility autocorrelation is information propagation.
One mental model for markets is a viscous fluid. Shocks to the system play out as damped oscillations in the price discovery process.

Making this post because more people are interested in how Derive V3 actually is.
V3 is basically rebuilding @DeriveXYZ into infrastructure for a much broader financial market.
The easiest way to understand it is through these 6 new features:
1. zkVM + Ethereum settlement
Execution and risk calculations happen efficiently in the zkVM, while proofs settle on Ethereum.
This lets Derive keep exchange-like performance while moving settlement and custody closer to Ethereum.
2. Much stronger portfolio margin
Instead of treating every position separately, V3 can understand the risk of your entire portfolio.
For example: Long ETH + short calls + perps + BTC options.
Some positions hedge others, so margin can be allocated much more efficiently instead of over-collateralizing every trade independently.
3. Cross-currency margin + non-cash borrowing/lending
This becomes important if Derive expands beyond USDC + crypto.
Imagine holding stocks, ETH, tokenized Treasuries or other assets and using them inside the same portfolio instead of constantly converting everything back into cash collateral.
That starts to look much more like a true multi-asset financial account.
4. Risk isolation
Different markets can have different risk pools. That matters when you start mixing crypto with assets like:
• tokenized stocks
• commodities
• credit
• other RWAs
ETH options and private credit obviously shouldn’t be treated as the same type of risk.
V3 makes it easier for very different markets to coexist without forcing everything into one risk bucket.
5. One-click vault deployment
Builders can package options strategies into much simpler products.
Instead of asking users to understand strikes, Greeks and IV, you can give them something like:
“Earn yield while being willing to sell ETH at $6,000.”
Underneath, it’s still an options strategy. The complexity just gets hidden.
6. Builder infrastructure + SDK
Apps can integrate market data, orders, RFQs, vaults, deposits, withdrawals, portfolios and session keys.
This is what allows Derive to become infrastructure rather than just a destination.
Wallets, trading apps, fintech products or structured-product platforms could all build on top.
And this is probably the bigger implication of V3.
Derive started as an onchain options exchange.
V3 is designed for a world where much more than crypto trades onchain.
Once stocks, Treasuries, commodities and other financial assets become tokenized, people will want to:
• hedge them
• borrow against them
• generate yield from them
• trade volatility on them
• build structured products around them
That’s where Derive starts looking less like just an options exchange and more like a financial infrastructure layer for onchain markets.
That’s why I think V3 is so exciting.

for anyone starting out , this is a good path :)
learning options trading...
since my last post, i've spent more time studying any information related to options trading and understanding them
the main material was this course insights.derive.xyz/courses/ and posts here on X from other smart traders and also this post xitter.cf/minus1_12/status/20878…
i recommend reading it
on the positive side, i've probably moved from the level of a beginner in options to the level of a confident beginner
i started building structures, using RFO on a regular basis, the strategy builder and strategies like call/put spread, strangle, straddle
even for a trader like me, RFO has already become completely normal, as has building structures
i also started paying attention to Delta, IV and greeks in general, because even in this market i don't want to rely only on the fact that on the expiration day the price will be higher than the strike and i'll make something
but i still don't analyze all the necessary information every time, i don't always look at Delta, IV and the like
and yes, determining where the price will go, choosing the appropriate strike and date definitely remains the main thing for spot/perps/options
( in general, all platforms are now trying to simplify options trading as much as possible, especially focusing on beginners, and it's quite possible that in the near future they won't need to pay attention to all this Delta, IV and similar information at all)
and i even started using derivativesmonkey.com/
you're probably laughing, this is real progress haha
lately i've accumulated unprofitable calls on $XAUT (at the moment, back then buying calls looked good), and in general from time to time i try to increase the position
on the positive side, over the last few days i had a good PNL, in particular it was ETH $2500/2600 call spread 20 sep and today BTC $85000/90000 call spread 25 sep (sold when BTC was 84,000+ and now it's already 86,000....but profit is profit)
in terms of realized profit i'm in the plus, in terms of unrealized it seems i'm in the minus -_- until chaos comes and XAUT flies to the moon
i also partially started allocating 30%+- of the portfolio to trading short-term options, the market in general says buy calls, why not
mistakes: too large a position with not the best entry point, and accordingly the capital that was then used to achieve a good average was insufficient
allocating too much capital for a single position (yes, over the last two days i regretted more that i didn't allocate more, but still)
and a bunch more mistakes, which i will of course take into account and not repeat in the future, but that's not certain haha
something like that...moving forward
(i'm also preparing a new list of the onchain options ecosystem, i think it will all be ready today or tomorrow)

Learning options trading...
currently in the stage of actually learning options trading, over these past few months there was a successful call on ETH, ZEC, BTC and some other stocks, I don't remember anymore, but not without losses, on call HYPE, SOL, SPCX pure minuses :)
unpleasant, but it's part of the path Success, is when you haven't lost anything and even earned a little bit
eh, and I was already imagining how I would get rich :)
If you compare realized and unrealized losses with profit, the second still covers the first it's nice, I hope XAUT wants to go to $5,000, because the position on Derive is present
the main mistakes were essentially made due to lack of knowledge, absence of strategies and of course absence of a risk management system
When I trade on spot I understand that on most trades I will always have a limit order -20% on each position, and for some reason when I traded options, I didn't stick to such a rule :)
i had no rules at all, which is bad, same way there is no target when I am ready to fix profit
i had a few Put on $SPCX and immediately I went into minus, but then the stock price fell and the position a few times was in plus 30% and others even in 50% but losses... simply the position was not sold, although the profit was entirely fine... mistake made, analyzed, moving on
on the position with $XAUT absolutely the same story, at the moment it was 200% and it was cool (regret that only bought 6x...)
here are such essentially mistakes were made during trading, somewhere got lucky somewhere not
profits to everyone, may the force be with you
