Great to host IP Minister @KanishkaNarayan and representatives of our creative sector today for our #BritishIPDay2026 roundtable on licensing. A valuable discussion on ensuring AI works for the creative industries and supports rightsholders through effective licensing solutions.

Intellectual property is essential to ensuring creators, designers and rights holders can benefit from their work. The @APPGforIP 's latest report examines how enforcement can be strengthened and better coordinated to support the people that depend on a robust IP framework.

BPI is celebrating #BritishIPDay2026 by continuing to champion the UK's world-leading IP framework.
Today also marks the launch of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for IP's new report on IP enforcement and illicit trade. The report follows an inquiry to which BPI's Director of Content Protection, Peter Ratcliffe, gave evidence on the challenges facing the music sector and how policymakers can help address them.
IP crime is evolving fast and enforcement must keep pace.
Today, the APPG publishes its latest report on how the UK can respond.
Thank you to everyone who contributed evidence to the inquiry.

Happy British IP Day!
Today, we are busy in Parliament showcasing how industry led collective licensing, for the use of published content in generative AI, has been introduced to complement bi-lateral licensing agreements.
New direct licensing agreements and collective licensing models are demonstrating that the UK’s copyright framework is not an inhibitor to co-operation and licensing between rights holders and AI developers.
While the market remains nascent, it has the potential to grow further and faster, providing new revenue streams for the creative industries and allowing the AI sector access to quality content that will improve their services.

Today, on #BritishIPDay2026, the APPG for Intellectual Property has published its report on IP enforcement, following a three-month inquiry to which many Alliance members contributed evidence and insight.
We welcome its practical recommendations, including a “Follow the Money” approach, stronger business verification by platforms, and increased action to close the enforcement capacity gaps.

Following our confirmation of three year funding for @CityPolicePIPCU, our Enforcement team and CEO Adam Williams met to sign the 2026-27 Service Agreement.
It was great to meet with @AllianceIP and Sky as we develop public and private partnerships to tackle IP crime effectively.
Pleased that Ministers have listened, done the right thing, and taken the proposed opt out off the table. It is also positive that copyright reform more broadly is not one of the four focus areas the Government says it is taking forward in its statement.

@IPOEnforcement
The @APPGforIP has launched an inquiry into IP enforcement as the UK prepares to renew its Counter-Infringement Strategy.
We’re seeking evidence on:
1. What’s working in our current enforcement landscape
2. Where the biggest gaps remain
3. How we can strengthen national and international cooperation
Submit written evidence by the end of March to help shape the future of IP enforcement.
