“This allows for a potentially broader efficacy and reduces the likelihood for the development of viral drug resistance.”

From updated preprint co-authored by @US_FDA scientists, re: @MolecularPrtnrs @Novartis DARPin antiviral ensovibep "retain inhibitory potency against all frequent SARS-CoV-2 variants, including Omicron BA.1 and BA.2, as of February 2022." biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

Ensovibep is designed to simultaneously bind the #COVID19 virus in 3 places. We recently shared positive results from our global study of ensovibep in patients demonstrating 78% reduction of the risk of hospitalization, emergency room visits, or death: bit.ly/3tfS6b3

If Pfizer hits the $22B in paxlovid number this year, it will likely make it (no surprise) the largest selling drug in the world. Humira did $20.7B in 2021.

Likely to see a repeat of Paxlovid rush to order where US placed $20bn order with Pfizer. Game over for @healthgovau order for a while. forbes.com/sites/zacharysmit…

Novartis and @MolecularPrtnrs admitted vaccinated and unvaccinated patients into their #COVID19 trial if a RAT was positive. Makes sense. Powerful anti-viral, 🙏 @tburton
Recent update from Novartis: in discussions with US gov and other governments (as well as FDA re EUA re sub-cue jab). Hope @healthgovau is in the queue this time. Ensovibep could be a highly scaleable GP-based rapid treatment. @ProfPCDoherty
COVID-19 can cause lasting damage to the cardiovascular system, even in “mild” cases that didn’t require hospitalisation during the acute phase of infection. A new study shows we’re going to see more heart disease, strokes, blood clots & other problems.🧵 nature.com/articles/s41591-0…

Interesting background re Pfizer anti-viral @ProfPCDoherty
Thank you @LauermanJohn for revealing the untold origin story for Pfizer's Paxlovid COVID-19 pill. The interesting part: Merck's drug boceprevir provided an essential backbone structure for Paxlovid, and boceprevir is still under patent. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

The countries that will not reach 70% 2-shot vaccinated by mid-2022. One is the 3rd largest in population and among the richest in the world
Update: We now project that 122 countries – including Bangladesh, Egypt, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia, and the United States – are not on track for the WHO's target of 70% of the population fully vaccinated by mid-2022. Read more: ourworldindata.org/covid-vac…
