I’m 60. Which is amazing and lovely and (at one point) felt unlikely. So go me. Also, this means it’s exactly 10 years ago today that some bloke on Twitter blocked me because he had no idea I was ‘so old’.
That’s not a schooner! (The aft sail has to be bigger than the forward sail for it to be a schooner.) #onlyconnect
I’m going to spend 9pm-10pm crying, for the next six Sundays. For Anne, for Jane, for Cromwell and for the genius that was Hilary Mantel. (Who made me love Cromwell). #TheMirrorAndTheLight
Usually, @gilescoren makes me smile on a Saturday morning. Sometimes, he makes me laugh. Occasionally, he makes me go ‘Meh’.
Today, he made me cry.
It’s been a tough week. I had an op. All ok, but I’m battered and knackered*.
However, the tree is decorated, Christmas ice-cream is made & I have the #StrictlyFinal on. It’s not a bad life.
*If I ever write an autobiography “Battered and Knackered” is in my top 3 titles.
On a train down to London. The train manager comes through and calls every passenger ‘sir’. (It’s very male in this coach).
He gets to me and calls me ‘love’…
I’d be ok with that, if he’d called all the others sweetheart.
Watching #glastonbury2023, a bit embarrassed that I’ve never been. When I was young, I had babies. When I was older, my teenage/adult children were there. Now it looks hard work.
I’m an HM Bateman cartoon “The Gen X-er* who’s never been to a festival”
*/ boomer, but sod that.

This is almost unreadable. But read it, read it all. What a piece of shit that man was. My God.

How many times has @BurnageLabour @bevcraig @CllrAzraAli @Murtaza4Burnage tweeted about the Active Neighbourhood: a very significant investment/project in #Burnage ? The Active Neighbourhood project started in 2018. In 5 yrs, the grand sum of one tweet between 4 accounts. @s4plb
On the train home, after a lovely day. It was a party atmosphere at the Emirates. Roy Keane would be disgusted (because we won nothing) but it was very lovely. Arteta reminded us to enjoy the journey and treasure the company. I’m paraphrasing, but it’s not a bad mantra for life.

Absolutely dying at this clip of Gary Neville seeming to discover what a holiday is
As an #Arsenal fan, I’m clear that the ‘Made it Entertaining’ trophy, the ‘Put the Pressure on until April’ cup, & the ‘Pushed Them Hard for 9 Months’ plate, are all much more satisfying than the ‘No Fucking Chance at all’ vase that we have held for the last 15 or so years.

I hate this narrative that Arsenal bottled it. They have pushed one of the PL’s greatest ever teams all the way, and done it with a young coach and young players who finished 5th last season. It’s nothing but a success. They fell short, they’ll be stronger for it
Got up at 6. Went to London. Watched #Arsenal. Sat in my seat (since 2008). Saw some friends. We did not play well. Got back to catch the 7.30 train (just). Will be home by 10.30. Have a tricky week ahead. Worth every moment.

Looking for advice: For analysing qualitative data, is #NVivo the best option? Or is there better software available? Data is interviews, notes, concept maps etc. @AcademicChatter #researchhelp #academic #researcher #researchsupport @raulpacheco – at Llandegfan, Wales
Done with fretting. If we win, they are amazing. Same even if we lose. #MCIARS #ArsenaltillIdie
If one more clothing company sends me an email about investment pieces.
An investment generates a stream of income, or appreciates in value. A Hermes bag may be an investment. A jersey blazer is not. Unless it really is the reason you got that high paying job. #alwaysaneconomist
