I can't believe it. I can't believe it. It has been the dream of my life to make this. Thank you @netflix for making my dreams come true. Thank you all for watching and for wanting to read the book and for letting me share this series with you. I'm really grateful.
“East of Eden” hit 6.5 million views in its first four days of streaming on Netflix. Starring Florence Pugh, the project has given the 1953 Steinbeck novel renewed popularity, with Penguin Classics seeing a 200% increase in sales since Netflix announced the greenlight. variety.com/2026/tv/news/eas…

In “East of Eden,” the 1952 novel that John Steinbeck considered his opus, unfit parenthood begets generations of trauma. The text has seldom been brought to the big screen, most likely because of the challenges posed by the saga’s narrative sprawl. The latest “East of Eden,” a seven-part miniseries, is created by Zoe Kazan. Her retelling is ambitious, uneven, and thrives in the interpersonal details and surprising characters, Inkoo Kang writes: it is “a feat of translation that whittles the book down to its core components while expanding the elements that lend themselves most readily to prestige-television tropes.” The standout performance is that of Florence Pugh as Cathy, a gothic villain you can’t help but root for. “Her backstory emerges in the second episode—a strong contender for the best hour of television this year,” Kang continues. Netflix’s ‘East of Eden’ miniseries is the sort of sweeping intergenerational saga contemporary TV rarely attempts and even more rarely achieves. vulture.com/article/east-of-…

We just witnessed a system built on white supremacy validate the terroristic acts of a white supremacist. This only further validates the need to abolish our current system. White supremacy cannot be reformed.
