In a new paper in @NatureMedicine we argue that polarization is a serious—and overlooked—determinant of health.
#Polarization is analogous to a preexisting medical condition because it creates a population susceptibie to negative influences.

Jama Psychiatry paper finds if your classmates have a mental disorder, you're more likely to get one later in life.
Conclusion: mental disorders are *socially contagious*.
More plausible conclusion: authors didn't control for all relevant confounders.
