Most likely, the alignment problem will not be solved and we are living in the last days. It is most likely that we were born during the maximum number of births in the entire history of mankind - purely statistically, the most likely to be born is when the most births occurred.
Or the creatures of the future have severely limited the birth rate and our generation is the most numerous in history. But it is possible that civilization will die in the future because of x-risk and therefore we are the most numerous generation in history.
