Met a lot of women like #JACKIEWEAVER calm, intelligent, purposeful, patient, focussed on the issues. I’ve also met a lot of angry, power crazed men who can’t cope with a woman having authority. Raising a glass tonight 🍷 to all the Jackie Weavers in local government & beyond 🙌 – at North West, England
All those doctors treating Covid patients should be ashamed of themselves
All those teachers teaching children should be ashamed of themselves
All those police officers arresting criminals should be ashamed of themselves.
But only when it makes #reesmogg look bad.
Jacob Rees-Mogg has said Unicef “should be ashamed” after the agency announced that it would send food parcels to deprived children in inner-city London.
“It is a political stunt of the lowest order. Unicef should be ashamed of itself” thetimes.co.uk/edition/news/…
We've already had coked up pig rampaging through the Columbian jungle for June. The plagues of locusts weren't meant to arrive til July

You know what's really "hating Britain"? Thinking the bits worth defending are colonialism, Empire and racism.
Let's celebrate instead the Levellers, the Chartists, the trade unionists, the suffragettes, the anti-racists, the LGBTQ activists. And let's give them more statues!

“A great nation is like a great man
When he makes a mistake, he realizes it
Having realized it, he admits it
Having admitted it, he corrects it
He considers those who point out his faults as his most benevolent teachers
He thinks of his enemy as the shadow that he himself casts”

Yeah sex is great but have you ever seen people dump the statue of a slave owner in the very river where his slave ships used to dock.

George Floyd and I were both arrested for allegedly spending a counterfeit $20 bill. For George Floyd, a man my age, with two kids, it was a death sentence. For me, it is a story I sometimes tell at parties. That, my friends, is White privilege.

This is incredibly powerful from @claraamfo on the death of George Floyd, racism and its effect on her own mental health.

If you went to Southend beach today don't applaud me and other carers, NHS workers, and key workers tomorrow. Don't you dare. You obviously don't care, so don't pretend. Please stand on your doorstep and shout "FUCK YOU NHS" so we know where you live.

If you are a middle-class professional who has a cleaner, you should be paying them their wages as normal and letting them stay at home. If you ask them to come and clean your home, you are a monumentally selfish person and that's really all there is to it.

Her tone was fine, respectful, and might I dare say her view is more knowledgeable about the front line than the Health Secretary. Can't imagine why he doesn't like her "tone". (obviously I can well imagine)
Just been to @Tesco in #Eastbourne and seen an overzealous security guard shouting at a carer for helping her Dad to go shopping and interrogating a 15 year old for being with her mum. Won't be going to Tesco's again. No need for abuse.
