IRCC announced new CRS rules today. They start November 3, 2026.
What’s changing:
- No LMIA needed for job offer points. An LMIA also won’t give you extra points anymore.
- Job offer points are back, but only for jobs in eligible high-wage occupations. Up to 100 points.
- New “Labour Market Integration” factor. Up to 150 points for Canadian work experience, with extra points if that work was in a high-wage occupation.
- You get points for work experience or a job offer. Not both. IRCC gives you whichever is higher.
- Draws will pause for up to 2 weeks while IRCC recalculates every profile.
High-wage is based on your NOC code, not your personal salary. This matters.
My advice to applicants: Don’t panic. Don’t quit your job, switch employers, or pay anyone for a “job offer”. Wait a few days. Let the full details settle and let your profile get recalculated.
PGWP holders and students, this one affects you directly. Check your NOC before you plan your next move.
