Very interesting. I'm not familiar with the dynamics of the IOC-McDonald's split. What happened there?

Soccer sponsorship news: McDonald's won't renew its decades-old FIFA deal. CFO Ian Borden said on an earnings call that while the 2026 World Cup "provided a lift to the business ... [it] underperformed versus our expectations." (h/t @Adweek) adweek.com/brand-marketing/m…

The difference is that competitive integrity is critical to sports, whereas Hollywood is purely about entertainment. Taking steroids to look good for a movie role isn't cheating in the same way that it is to get an edge on the field of play.

I joined @notthefakeSVP last night and he asked a simple question: Who is the expanded college football playoff for? It will end up being for no one. We care about this sport a lot and we tried to put it into words.

Update: @AdamCrafton_ reports Chicago and Portland are now in the mix as potential host cities for the 2031 FIFA Women's World Cup. @SBJ first reported cities will not be required to sign contracts before a Nov. 23 vote awarding the event as they seek more favorable terms.

Elliotte is one of the best reporters in hockey, and he generally sticks to hockey. Today he posted a short message commemorating the Canadians killed on October 7th. And of course he’s getting mobbed for it. I’m sure he knew it was coming and posted anyway. Good for him.
As always, I hope for a world where people can live happily, in safety and security, no matter where they are from or what they believe jewishcanada.org/israel-stor…

Remembering the victims and sending love to their families on the third anniversary of the Oct. 7 massacre.🎗️ Much like Americans in the wake of 9/11, Jews around the world have grown closer and become prouder in the face of evil. An attack aimed at destroying the Jewish state has only underscored its importance.
