What happened to all the old phones that used to be everywhere? In California, Kentucky — a small town just south of Cincinnati — Jim and Cathie Engle have saved tens of thousands of telephones, payphones, parts, signs, switching equipment, and other pieces of the old telephone network. I visited during the 55th annual Antique Telephone Collectors Association show in September of 2026, where collectors gathered to buy, sell, trade, compare notes, and preserve a remarkable amount of telecommunications history. Along the way, I met Pat Fleet — the voice millions heard on AT&T recordings — and tagged along afterward as a group of collectors tracked down a fault in a vintage Western Electric 701 telephone system. The equipment is fascinating. But what's really being preserved is something harder to replace: the knowledge of how these systems actually work, how to troubleshoot them by hand, and how to keep them running. Tech just made them faster. The same deceptive logic fools human judgment and AI guardrails alike. 📅 Oct 29-31 📍 Québec City Convention Centre 🔗 hackfest.ca @hackfest_ca #InfoSec #Cybersecurity #Quebec #Speaker

The AG investigating JP Morgan for aiding Epstein has been fired. I guess she must have been "unethical" or something...archive.ph/3QStv
