Peter and Jean's relationship DEFINITELY wasn't planned way in advance; I DOUBT they expected it to reach such a broad audience. At MOST, they might have had the idea to develop something, but it would only go anywhere if the GENERAL audience accepted it (not just comic fans, who don't even make up half the viewership).
IF Peter + Jean actually becomes a thing... NO INSIDER HAS A CLUE ABOUT IT YET, BECAUSE NOTHING HAS PROBABLY BEEN DECIDED! THE ONLY THING ON KEVIN FEIGE AND THE PRODUCERS' MINDS RIGHT NOW IS AVENGERS!

Yeah. I was originally concerned because I was seeing it from the perspective of Marvel doing a pivot after a series of unfortunate circumstances transpired and didn’t really know how they were going to dig themselves out of it. But what they’re doing now is really exciting.

I rarely admit that I’m wrong, but as much as I wished that circumstances would have been different and would have liked to see the whole story with Kang play out instead of the pivot to Doom originally, ultimately what we’re getting now will fit the Saga’s end much better.
