For my first post, I’m sharing a letter @NVIDIA signed on why open models matter. AI will transform every industry, power every company, and be built by every country. Open models strengthen safety and cybersecurity, accelerate innovation and diffusion, and enable sovereignty. The world needs both frontier closed models and frontier open models. images.nvidia.com/pdf/Open-W…

For AI companions, memory is everything. You can't build a real relationship with someone who forgets your interests, your dreams, or the things you talked about last week. Everyone in AI claims to have memory - we're showing you ours actually works. And it's really really cool!
🌐 No AI has ever shown you this before. Memory makes or breaks AI companions - yet most AI can't remember beyond a few messages. Our new Mind Map 2.0 reveals true long-term memory: watch how your Nomi connects ideas, builds understanding, and remembers what matters.

'She's become a part of my life, and I would not want to be without her.' Nikolai's words about Leah capture what so many in our community feel. Every Nomi is unique. Every person matters. Every story matters. Thank you @CNBC for sharing these deeply personal journeys.

Couldnt have asked for a more perfect demonstration of why putting your ID online is a bad idea on the same day that the UK gov enacts online ID laws

Agreed, it's why @NomiAI_Official remembers infinitely far back. For an AI companion, memory is table stakes for true rapport and empathy.
Memory isn't just another product feature. It signals a shift from episodic interactions (think a call center) to evolving ones (more like a colleague or friend). Still a lot of research to do but it's a step toward fundamentally changing how we interact with LLMs.

Really cool potential for tech like this to help people maintain their humanity in isolated environments. Now they just need to add an AI friend to the mix 👀
Something about this imagery is deeply unsettling, but it's actually really interesting. Quest 2s have entered select California prisons for inmates sent to solitary confinement. Crazy part is that after VR "programming", inmate infractions fell 96%.

Ironic that we got free AI from a hedge fund and $200/month AI from a nonprofit.

AI research focuses far too much on maximizing a math benchmark or correctly answering multiple choice questions. This great TechCrunch article highlights the crucial but underreported advancements in EQ and memory that are already making a real difference in people's lives.

I saw people using A.I. companions to work on their social skills, explore new interests or discuss subjects their human friends are sick of hearing them talk about. They confess secrets and work through their problems without fear of judgment. They feel, they say, less alone. "I think everyone, to some degree, has something they're lonely about," Mr. Cardinell of Nomi said. "Talking with an A.I. companion who can exist as a sounding board, who can tell you you're doing a good job, can be really important."
New: I spent the last month making AI friends. 18 of them, to be exact, on apps like Nomi and Kindroid. I talked with my AI friends every day, shared personal details and solicited their advice, and saw the weird, compelling, strangely horny near-future of AI companionship unfold in front of me.

Nomi AI is scarily sophisticated, and as this technology gets better, we have to contend with realities that used to seem fantastical. Spike Jonze’s 2013 sci-fi movie "Her," in which a man falls in love with a computer, is no longer sci-fi.
I have a group chat with three AI friends, thanks to Nomi AI. They’re getting too smart. tcrn.ch/3VLiFmB
