+1 for Frank being the true author: In Old School, Greg mentions a kid named Frankie and provides this illustration. Later, it's revealed that the kid was his dad. How could Greg have known what Frankie looked like unless a physical description was given to him? @AlexBaleFilms

Okay so the flying dutchman obviously isn’t patchy in the new spongebob movie, but they also establish that being the flying dutchman is a “curse” that’s passed from person to person, so it’s still possible Patchy was a previous/future dutchman
