Simple example of why I use EMAs as confirmation gates.
A level on its own is never a trade for me. The level gets me interested, the shift gets me in.
Here I’m using the 10 and 30 EMA.
Price reclaiming the 10, the 10 starting to slope up, and structure building back above the 30 tells me momentum is actually shifting rather than price just reacting at the level.
Then I want the other pieces lining up around it: sweep/rejection of Monday’s low, reclaiming key RTH structure, plus breadth, term structure and intermarket context.
None of those are entries on their own.
The level gives me location.
The 10/30 EMA structure tells me whether trend and momentum are starting to agree with the idea.
A race car driver doesn’t need to understand every little piece of engineering under the hood. He needs to understand what the car is telling him, see what’s happening around him, and act accordingly.
15 months before they even touch live.
Meanwhile, people out here believe someone slinging trading rooms and claiming to be consistently profitable after one year. 🤣 yeah hit that reset button...
Passing an online trading challenge can demonstrate that you can perform under a specific set of conditions. It doesn't necessarily demonstrate that you can sustain that performance over time.
Real trader development requires months of consistency, exposure to different market cycles, changing volatility, drawdowns, recovery periods, and the emotional challenges that come with them.
