When you stare into the darkness for too long, the darkness starts staring back at you.

There is something really frustrating about Hazbin/Helluva writing that comes down to more telling than showing. Despite what is happening narratively, the characterization is based on telling the viewer how they should perceive the characters regardless of the events happening on screen.
Maybe it’s a lack of trust with the viewer base to make their own conclusions, but it’s doubly irritating when certain characters are clearly favored.

The pure horror of Vox landing in Hell with the TV head but not knowing how to use it yet, how to project his face... Just pitch black vision with constant static ringing, as he uses these foreign, unwieldy, clawed hands to try to pry the TV off his head, only to slowly realize it's fused to his neck. He realizes he can't feel anything from the neck up. He runs his hand over the screen where his face should be and it's completely featureless, just smooth glass. He can't open his eyes because there ARE no eyes, no mouth to speak or scream.
He realizes he's still 'breathing' though, in a terribly unnatural way, and hesitantly touches his sides to find these gaping holes in his ribs where air is flowing in and out.
He starts panicking enough that his electricity starts crackling all around him, and it causes the screen to flicker to life for a split second and he can see a flash of a red sky and a strange city, a few deformed-looking creatures looking down at him in hostile amusement or curiosity. That makes him even more scared, he's actually shaking now, and but it causes more electricity to flow, and the screen turns on again. He can see!
One of the creatures lunges at him and he fights back, but his vision keeps cutting out. He doesn't realize he has to keep the electricity flowing to keep his screen on. He has to brawl half-blind, just swinging his claws to hopefully land a swipe. He feels like an animal and he hates it. Eventually he discharges a shock big enough to throw his opponent off-balance, and he can see for a whole five seconds! It clicks in his head that this new electrical ability, which feels innate and natural- almost feels like a new, extra limb, is the key to being able to see.
He definitely still loses that fight, but learns in the aftermath that this new body regenerates. He slowly realizes that this is Hell... something he never even believed existed. The strange creatures are other Sinners, and he's one of them. Forever.
But the horror wears off eventually, replaced by novelty. He likes this electricity of his. It feels right. And he likes that there are - apparently - no rules here, no pretenses he needs to keep up. What other new abilities are hiding within him? And what couldn't he do in a world where vice is virtue?
