Mail: “The planned development dwarfs any similar facility currently in the UK and covers a mind-blowing 4,700 acres, around 2,600 football pitches – making it 50 per cent larger than Britain's biggest airport.” Crikey! Really? dailymail.com/news/article-1…

What use is an AI gold rush generating mega-profits for a wealthy few when you can’t afford a home in your town or get a reliable bus to work?
We need to flip the script: put the state in the driving seat and measure prosperity by how well people live, over wealth accumulation.

Tbe biggest irony to this enormous environmental vandalism at @MinsterMarshes is that these internationally recognised wetlands are huge carbon sinks…bird numbers are at record low levels yet @UKLabour have allowed the home of 37 Red listed birds to be destroyed…the argument to build on these marshes is deeply flawed…surely @nationalgriduk there was another part of coastline to build the converter station?

This is relevant to anyone who:
- thinks their electricity bill is too high;
- values our landscapes, heritage and nature;
- thinks that our grid upgrade should be for public benefit, not National Grid’s shareholders

More of those imaginary waterfowl settling in to roost on farmland near the Norwich to Tilbury pylons. These geese cross the route daily and are risk of collision if the power lines are built. But National Grid refuses to do farmland surveys. Sound up!

National Grid is trying to fell a 300-year old oak it promised to save. (The farmer even checked this morning that they would keep their promise and they said yes). This afternoon he finds out they were lying and WERE going to fell it. He has stopped them - for good?

Oh come on @mhclg this new legislation from 31st October is REMOVING power from communities and it’s elected councillors ..this is merely to speed up the approval process for unsustainable development by unelected officers..democracy is being overruled and you know it.

Replying to @AngelaRayner
@AngelaRayner and this out of touch government will not listen!
The new National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) rules make it even harder for communities to object to unsustainable development…..every common sense reason for refusal no longer apply in the same way…what’s worse the new rules apply immediately even to applications already under consideration, meaning communities hard work campaigns are now pointless.

When the Guardian went on strike to protest the Observer sale, I became a de facto spokesperson. Later a Tortoise employee I’d never met wrote to me to cancel my 20-year contract. No goodbye & no pay-off. This is how they now take credit for my work..but write me out of the story
Well done Rebecca’s neighbour. What a beautiful picture
