Meloni announces a new decree and 4 new measures to combat violent riots and looting.
She says that people of foreign background constitute half of the 330 people arrested and detained so far.
The new measures include prison sentences of up to 5 years and fines of €20,000 for participating in violent protests.
Under the new decree:
- Rioters acting in groups of 5 or more face tougher penalties, particularly if they conceal their faces or injure someone.
- Parents will be held financially responsible for damage caused by their underage children.
- Preventive detention powers will be extended to minors.
- An additional 500 soldiers will be deployed to Milan until the end of the year.
- Juvenile courts and detention facilities will receive additional resources.
Meloni said hundreds of teenagers, many mobilized through social media, had joined Antifa extremists in the streets to vandalize property, loot stores and film themselves committing crimes.

כפי שאמרתי, ב-47 השנים האחרונות הדור שלנו היה תחת ההפצצות התעמולתיות החמורות ביותר של משטר המולות האכזרי נגד ישראל והעם היהודי. עד כמה שאני זוכר, מגני הילדים ועד האוניברסיטה, בסיס החינוך שלנו היה "אנטישמיות" ו"מוות לישראל". ברחוב, בסמטה ובשוק, בטלוויזיה, בקולנוע, בתרבות, בעיתונות ו... כולם היו מטמיעים בנו את החשיבה השטנית הזו. אבל היום אנחנו רואים מצב שבו עם איראן, מנשים וגברים ועד זקנים וצעירים, משבחים אותו באהבה. האיש הגדול הזה קצר אהבה ותקווה מתוך השנאה ששתלה הרפובליקה האיסלאמית במשך 47 שנים בליבם של האנשים. היום איראנים בוחרים בשם "בנימין" הכי הרבה מבין שמות לא-איראניים לילדיהם. רק מתוך כבוד לבנימין נתניהו! הוא גרם לעם איראן לא רק להתאהב בו אלא גם להתאהב בארץ ישראל. בימים אלה, אם תשאל כל 10 צעירים איראנים מה משאלת התיירות שלהם, לפחות 8 מהם יגידו: ישראל! ביבי קירב את ליבות שני העמים – איראן וישראל.
ראינו פעמים רבות צעירים בתוך איראן שמחזיקים או תולים דגלי ישראל ברחובות איראן רק כדי להראות את אהבתם והערצתם לישראל, למרות שהם יודעים ומאמינים שאם יזוהו וייעצרו, העונש המינימלי שלהם הוא הוצאה להורג.
איזה הישג גדול יותר מזה שגבר כובש את ליבה של אומה שאמורה להיות אויבתו.
אין לי כוונה לעשות תעמולה פוליטית או קמפיין בחירות, רק אמרתי את דברי הלב של בני דורי אל עם ישראל. אני מקווה שעם ישראל הגדול, בבחירות האלה, יבחר בטוב ביותר.

Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, citing Yemeni intelligence sources, reports that a senior Syrian military delegation held consultations in Riyadh in recent days over arrangements to deploy up to 10,000 Syrian fighters to join the campaign against the Houthis.
The report claims the contingent could also include foreign extremists.
