Went to British Sugar’s Wissington factory today for a media briefing. Wouldn’t say we learned a huge amount more unfortunately, although not very surprisingly either. Here are some brief(?!) “highlights”:

This (now deleted) Home Office tweet is not only most honest thing that they’ve said but also the best idea that they’ve come up with in many years.

Back of my Polling Card for local elections. For 1st time, photo ID is required. Card gives many options for elderly or those with disability. None, NONE, for younger or student voters. The policy is simply biased against younger voters, designed to suppress their vote.

You may have seen a version of this tweet, which seems to claim that energy costs in the UK are many times more expensive than the rest of Europe - over four times as much as the next two countries, Belgium and France.
Here’s why that tweet is wildly misleading. A thread 🧵1/10

Bit of a brown trouser moment today when a sink hole developed on the headland in the beet field we were lifting. Harvester and trailers had been over the area several times already then one of the tractors just suddenly began to drop out of site😮

Im trying to invent the ultimate piece of kit for arable farmers. It takes in unwanted biomass & turns it into a biologically active nutrient pellet that's delivered evenly or precisely to its target. Must be low maintenance, preferably low fuel, low compaction...

Bobby Kennedy's funeral train, 1968 (as recalled in Eric Burdon's song 'Slow Moving Train').
Maybe scenes like these lie behind the reason to fly the Queen's body from Scotland to London rather than convey by train?
Either way, can't help thinking it's an opportunity missed.

As someone born & raised in Odessa for roughly 1/3 of my life, who spent the other 2/3 in America, I know that most people don’t know much about Ukraine - which I get, I have many blind spots, so I thought I’d tweet some little basic things in case it helps make it real 🧵
