Let us not forget Mandela refused to see Obama because of his support for the Libyan invasion, and got sick shortly after his friend Gaddafi was assassinated. Mandela's grandson was named after Gaddafi and Gaddafi was one of the three leaders he thanked when he got out of prison.
I remember this
He was lying flat on his back in the road with both hands in the air, shouting that he was a therapist and the man beside him was autistic and holding a toy truck.
A policeman shot Charles Kinsey anyway. Kinsey asked him why.
The officer said: "I don't know."
North Miami, Florida, 18 July 2016. Kinsey, 47, was a behavioural therapist. One of his patients, Arnaldo Rios Soto, a 26-year-old autistic man, had wandered out of a group home and was sitting in the middle of the road playing with a silver toy truck.
Someone called 911 and reported a man with a gun threatening to kill himself.
Kinsey did everything. He lay down in the road on his back. He put both hands straight up in the air where they could be seen. He shouted his identification, his job, his patient's condition, and that the object was a toy. It is on video.
A SWAT officer fired three rounds. One hit Kinsey in the leg.
Then he was rolled over and handcuffed, bleeding in the road, and left there for a reported twenty minutes before an ambulance got to him.
He asked the officer why he had shot him. He has testified that the answer was: *I don't know.*
The officer, Jonathan Aledda, said he had been trying to protect Kinsey and believed Rios Soto was armed and a threat. He was charged — which is itself unusual — and tried twice. The first trial produced a conviction on one count of culpable negligence. A judge threw it out. A second jury acquitted him in 2019.
Nobody has been held responsible.
Kinsey survived and gave interviews, and the sentence he keeps returning to is the one everybody should take from this.
He was unarmed, flat on his back, hands up, announcing himself, in daylight, on camera.
He did everything right, and it did not matter.
Every Black parent in America who has ever recited the rules to a teenager — hands visible, say sir, do not move, announce what you are doing — has had to reckon with Charles Kinsey, because he followed all of them, perfectly, out loud, and was shot anyway.

John Lennon's will left nothing to his first son, Julian. After a 16-year fight, Julian settled with the estate for a reported £20 million. He says he has been spending it buying his father's things back.
Yoko Ono's estate had sold them.
Julian was 17 when his father was killed in 1980. The will made no provision for him, only a small trust set up earlier. His lawyers argued that Yoko unduly influenced the will in favor of her son, Sean. The settlement terms were never made public.
In the video below, a TV host brings up the part that stayed with her. Julian had to buy, at auction, the postcards he and his father had written to each other. "I went. That's disgusting." He says a lot of his father's belongings were auctioned off by Yoko, personal possessions and instruments.
Then he says what he thinks about it: "The most ironic thing is, with the settlement that I did receive, I've been buying his stuff back with that. So I'm buying his stuff back with his money, which is absolutely insane."
Asked about Yoko, he calls her "very manipulative." "I think she knew exactly what she was doing from day one. She played it innocent, but I think she had it all planned."
Yoko reportedly authorized the settlement. This month Sean said he and Julian inherited the same amount.
The estate sold the postcards. The settlement paid for Julian to buy them back.
What this story shows us is that a will is the last thing a parent says to you, and what it leaves out can last a lifetime.
Was Yoko protecting a legacy, or did she write a child out of it?
🚨BREAKING: TV presenter and former footballer Alex Scott discovered that one of her Jamaican ancestors owned 26 slaves.
During filming of the BBC series *Who Do You Think You Are?* in 2021, Scott learned that her four-times great-grandfather, Robert Francis Coombs — a free person of colour in Jamaica — owned 26 enslaved people between 1817 and 1832.
When Britain abolished slavery, Coombs submitted a claim and received compensation from the British government for those 26 individuals, as was standard policy at the time for slave owners.
Scott was visibly emotional on the programme, saying she had expected to find ancestors who were enslaved, not owners. She stated it went “against everything that I stand for.”
The case highlights a less frequently discussed historical reality: free people of colour in the Caribbean also owned slaves, and the British government paid compensation to owners (not the enslaved) upon abolition.

Meet the FBI informant in the stories of both President Trump's second impeachment and second assassination attempt.
Kenneth Michael "Mike" Dunn, who admitted to being a paid FBI source in News2Share docu-series "Fall of the Boogaloo" said that his final meeting with his FBI handler Jennifer Fisher pertained to Ryan Routh, now convicted of attempting to assassinate President Trump on September 15, 2024.
"I turned over an entire file to them," he recalls. "I turned over a file of all the information, messages, etc that I had with the guy that planned to assassinate Trump from Ukraine and all the information concerning that, and offered to be of assistance in any way whatsoever."
He also posted a series of now-deleted Tik Tok videos on September 15 and 16, 2024, describing his purported interactions and providing what he describes as evidence.
Dunn claims to have met Routh in May and June of 2022 and October 2023.
"I know Ryan Routh, I 100% believe that he acted alone," FBI informant Mike Dunn said in his 2024 video. "I don't believe the conspiracies on the left wing that Donald Trump staged it because I knew Ryan Routh and he wouldn't allow himself to be used by Donald Trump and his team."
"And I don't believe the conspiracies on the right wing that it was some three-letter agency setup because they wouldn't shoot themselves in the foot with a purported asset that was like a loose cannon, really a loose cannon," added Dunn, himself an FBI registered and paid informant at the time.
"I'm generally a well-respected individual among the command in Ukraine, and I hope that this helps some people understand that this guy was just a nut, and I believe that he acted alone" Mr. Dunn concluded his video on the day after Ryan Routh's arrest.
A Kindle version of the book Memories with my Father will soon be available, am also working on finishing a second edition which will reflect the lengthier Spanish version.

Air Force confirmed the service member, a USAF Airman, died from injuries after the rappelling demonstration. It was not a fast-rope or Army officer.

Last night, Israeli police detained a Palestinian bride in Al-Ramla, central occupied Palestine, and took her to a police station shortly before her church wedding ceremony, reportedly after fireworks were set off outside the church.
According to political activist Ghassan Munir, the detention disrupted the wedding for around an hour as relatives and community figures went to the station to demand her release.
He described the detention as an act of pressure on the Palestinian Arab community and an intrusion into its daily life and celebrations.

Spot on. Poor stupid Europe has squandered every escape route.
Initially committed to diplomacy via the Minsk Accords, it allowed itself be bullied and thrown off course by the eternally bellicose US who, of course, has lost interest.
It could have drawn a line after the US sabotaged NS2 to make Europe an energy hostage, but no - vassaldom is deeply ingrained in the European DNA.
Instead, Europe decided to show Washington that it had outgrown diplomacy and acquired the skills to drive straight off a cliff. The sad thing is that this is Europe's idea of proudly standing up to Trump.
So welcome to the worst of all possible worlds - bankrupt yet determined to escalate an unwinnable war.
The entire European leadership needs to be removed from power and jailed for the sake of the future of humanity.
They've got themselves in too deep. Brussels and the UK have effectively picked up an American proxy war, without a credible exit strategy and with a financial commitment that keeps growing.
They gambled on a war economy to inflate GDP, apparently forgetting that you can't build industrial prosperity on missiles and military contracts while starving your factories of affordable energy. Industry runs on gas, oil and electricity, not grand speeches about defeating Russia. They've traded affordable energy and industrial competitiveness for a rearmament programme that may flatter GDP figures but won't rebuild Europe's productive economy.
Washington can scale back its involvement, but Europe's leaders have tied themselves to a war they cannot guarantee will be won, a peace settlement they cannot dictate and a bill they have no clear means of settling.
It's one thing to inherit Washington's war. It's quite another to discover you're expected to bankroll it indefinitely.
Ursula von der Leyen has confirmed that Ukraine faces a further €70 billion funding shortfall in 2027, on top of the €45 billion already earmarked for that year under the EU's €90 billion support package.
That's a staggering €115 billion in existing commitments and additional funding requirements for a single year.
Brussels is now urgently looking for other countries to help plug the gap, with no firm agreement on where the extra money will come from.
And here's the rather inconvenient detail. The existing €90 billion package is being financed through EU borrowing, with Ukraine's repayment obligations tied to future Russian war reparations. Reparations that nobody can guarantee will ever materialise.
Ukraine faces a serious financial crisis unless further funding is secured, while European governments are already struggling with debt, weak growth and mounting pressure on their own public finances.
Nobody can credibly predict that Ukraine or the EU will go bankrupt in 2027 or 2028. But the financial risks are growing, and the political question is becoming harder to avoid.
How many more billions can Brussels borrow to finance a war with no agreed end date, while gambling on a military victory that is far from guaranteed and reparations Russia has shown no willingness to pay?
The entire repayment arrangement rests on assumptions, not guarantees. It presumes that Russia can eventually be compelled to pay compensation, whether through a Ukrainian victory or some future peace settlement. Neither outcome is assured, and Moscow has given no indication that it would voluntarily accept such terms.
And we're now witnessing something dangerously familiar. This is what happens when you get in so deep that pulling out becomes politically and financially unthinkable. Every additional billion makes it harder to admit the original assumptions may have been wrong. So the money keeps flowing, not necessarily because anyone can demonstrate a successful outcome, but because too much has already been committed to contemplate failure.
It's the same "too big to fail" mentality that helped fuel the financial recklessness preceding the 2008 crash. Banks took enormous risks, convinced that the consequences of failure were so catastrophic that governments would ultimately have to rescue them. When the reckoning came, the public picked up the bill.
Now consider what happens if this war ends without a Ukrainian victory, Russia refuses to pay and the reparations Brussels has effectively banked on never materialise.
The debt doesn't magically disappear. Someone still has to honour those financial commitments.
And once again, the danger is that European taxpayers and the public will be left carrying the financial consequences of decisions they had little say in making.
The most dangerous point in any financial gamble is when those responsible become more afraid of admitting failure than of losing even more money.
Ukraine deserves peace... they don't deserve to be used to enrich the EU through arms deals and dodgy deals...

Sophia Loren’s famous striptease for Marcello Mastroianni in “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” (1963). Director Vittorio De Sica said:”At first, Sophia didn’t want to do it. She said ‘I’m a big girl, there is a lot of me.” So we decided to give it some humour, make it funny. Once she understood she was doing something playful, she was brilliant, and totally in control. We rehearsed it and then she did it exactly as I wanted. The only person who was disappointed was Marcello, who wanted her to do it twenty or thirty times!”

Churchill was nuts, he was also responsible for genocide in India
Hitler had been dead for three weeks when Churchill asked his generals for a plan to attack the Soviet Union. German soldiers were supposed to march on his side.
The plan was called Operation UNTHINKABLE.
In May 1945, British military planners examined a surprise attack on the Red Army, with July 1 set as the starting date. The offensive would involve British and American forces, Polish troops, and rearmed Wehrmacht divisions.
But Stalin already knew what was coming from Soviet intelligence. In June, Marshal Zhukov unexpectedly regrouped Soviet forces and strengthened their defenses.
Meanwhile, British generals were doing the math. The Red Army outnumbered Western forces in Central Europe by roughly three to one. A quick victory looked unlikely, and a full-scale war against the USSR could drag on for years.
Churchill never launched the attack. But he had ordered his generals to prepare for war against the very country Britain had just fought alongside.
As Leo Tolstoy put it, “A word is an action.”
Allende, Arbenz, Mosaddegh, all democratically elected, all overthrown by the CIA
Did you know?
Following Operation Ajax; the coup in Iran in 1953 which brought the Shah to power, orchestrated by the CIA & MI6 against democratically-elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh for nationalising Iran’s oil industry…
Within a year, five US majors, the forerunners of today’s ExxonMobil and Chevron, held 40% of the consortium running Iran’s oil industry. Britain’s BP, whose grip Iran had just broken, got 40% back.
Foreign oil corporations kept control of production, pricing and exports until the 1970s. The CIA only formally acknowledged its role in 2013.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents are facing severe public and political condemnation following a violent encounter in North Long Beach, California. The resident, identified as an American citizen and former city employee named Ricardo, was riding his e-bike in his neighborhood when he was struck by an unmarked ICE vehicle. On a Saturday afternoon, the unmarked vehicle, driving the wrong way down a one-way street at an estimated 50 mph, struck Ricardo on his e-bike. According to video footage and family accounts, agents then tased Ricardo twice, pinned him to the ground, and handcuffed him behind his back despite breaking his arm. Witnesses and family members reported that agents failed to call paramedics immediately; Ricardo was only taken to the hospital in serious condition after the Long Beach Police Department arrived on the scene. During the chaos, agents also detained a second U.S. citizen who was on the sidewalk yelling at them during the arrest.
The incident has triggered massive backlash from local officials and community advocates. U.S. Rep. Robert Garcia condemned the attack on social media, calling the videos "horrific" and stating that ICE agents "brutally attacked and broke the arm" of a U.S. citizen. Long Beach Councilwoman Tunua Thrash-Ntuk issued a scathing statement demanding "universal condemnation" of the "lawless chaos," adding that government agents have no business terrorizing residents or conducting random, discriminatory stops. Conversely, former federal prosecutor Bill Essayli criticized Garcia's remarks on X, arguing that such incidents would be less frequent if targets complied with lawful commands.
