The anonymous BBC insider said thereโs โstill a tendency to refer back to the Hamas attack on the festival as if that was a balancing moment against what has come up subsequently.โ
The source continued: โThere's a tendency for the BBC to hide behind objectivityโ instead of doing โthe core journalism job of bringing truth to powerโ.
While BBC staff are afraid to speak out โbecause of the threat of job losses and restructuring. And that thereโs a malaise within the organisation where people feel troubled by how things are progressing,โ the source said.

Masked Israeli settlers attacked a delegation of European diplomats and public figures, as well as Palestinian olive harvesters, in the Christian village of Taybeh near Ramallah on Saturday.
The attackers also smashed a window of a Belgian consular vehicle, the reports said.

I never met Jason Arday, and know nothing about him beyond what I have read, seen and heard in the media.
As the debate around him raged in recent weeks, I stayed out of it, precisely because it struck me as one of those occasional frenzies in which facts get lost and humans cease to be treated as humans. I now wish I had reached out to him, tried to encourage him that โthis too shall pass.โ
Many people today, those who knew him above all but also many like me who didnโt, will be feeling sadness and anger that this has all led to his death, a family suddenly without a father, parents without a son. None of us will ever know exactly what was going through his mind, but it is hard to disagree with @MayorofLondon that Jason Arday faced โan unacceptable public hounding and campaign of abuse โฆ pernicious public shaming that other people in his position wouldnโt have faced.โ
Whatever the truth of the allegations against him, would he have suffered such a hounding had he been white, with short hair? I doubt it. The zeal with which the Trumpian anti-DEI brigade in the U.K. leapt on this story to try to push back the wheel of progress towards genuine equality was horrible.
Again, Sadiq is right to say โHis death was a tragedy but it should be a wake-up call for all of us.โ
RIP Jason. And to all of us, if ever you think someone you know may have cause to be suicidal, reach out to them.

I've taught creative & mental health classes on BBC Countryfile, @V_and_A, the Bronte Parsonage & even Highgrove. I've been advised to go on PIP (my autism,ADHD & PMDD together are disabling & my breakdown means my income's a quarter of what it was) but I really don't want to do that.
If you'd like to learn to draw plants & how creative activity alters our brain biochemistry to improve mental health my 29th August class is here๐

Dear @andyburnham
I greatly appreciate your determination to tackle the issue of mental health.
I simply question why you needed to organise a coup and remove an elected leader just to copy almost everything he said and did.
And this brings us to a matter of integrity. Not only did you deprive the country of the PM people voted for, but you are now taking the country for a ride by presenting as your own, and as revolutionary, policies and achievements that are only possible because someone else did all the work before you.
At some point, this stops being political rebranding and starts looking like a confidence trick.
You cannot remove the person who designed and implemented these policies, inherit the structures, funding and programmes he put in place, strip his name from them, and then present the results to the public as evidence of your own new and transformative leadership.
That is not a new political programme. It is someone elseโs programme with a new face attached to it.
The country deserves to be told what is genuinely new, what is inherited, and who actually did the work that made it possible. Anything less is taking the public for a ride.

So this 'plan' that's been in the making for at least a year, did it include:
Covert 'Team Andy' members of the PLP and cabinet relentlessly leaking and briefing negative stories about Starmer's leadership?
Encouraging opponents in politics and the media to use those briefings against him?
Using them as examples of how Starmer 'can't do comms'?
Also, if they've been working on a plan for at least a year, where is it?
All we've seen so far is a continuation of Starmer's work to date and a few odd kites being flown under the cover of 'Manchesterism'.
Isn't substance important anymore?
You've got to wonder what journalists do when there are so many unanswered questions that need attention.
Or is it just tittle-tattle on cosy podcasts that floats their collective boat?
