So @gumonchain has been in its private beta for close to 3 weeks now and I’ve been able to try it out a lot. I first heard about GUM at @JupiterExchange's Catstanbul event in 2025, and after listening to the talks about how it worked it’s safe to say my expectations were high. So how does it fare? GUM is currently in private beta, a lot is likely to change before public release so this may (*likely, knowing how hard @sssionggg works) be out of date very quickly The current experience: While it's still in beta, this feels like the biggest step forward in onchain UX we've had in a long while. It feels like something new and fresh, and it’s incredible just how seamless it has functioned so far. 0 failed swaps, 0 errors. Transactions can occasionally feel a little slow, but so far I've always received the quoted price. In the private beta I believe there is a limit on the DOVE (validator) count so I expect that this will only improve as time goes on. I never had to think about which chain I was on or whether I needed to bridge assets. After a while, you almost forget about the complexity happening behind the scenes. What does it offer? Currently there are 6 different chains available to trade between. Solana, Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, SUI & Robinhood. So far, the only thing i’ve found myself wanting to but unable to trade is the Binance Chain ecosystem, so the coverage is already pretty broad for nearly all your needs. There are 5 perp pairs already with 2 new additions outside of Jupiters usual perps with $JUP & $SPCX being available. The perp offering is understandably quite limited at this stage, but considering they've already added more within the first two weeks of the beta this seems like it will grow at a satisfying rate. Fee wise, I think they might be tripping because I genuinely wasn't expecting omnichain perps to be this cheap?!? Really impressed. A compelling case for institutions: While I'm not a lending maxi myself, I think the Earn feature is one of the biggest reasons institutions will be interested in GUM. Having lending and liquid staking opportunities across every supported chain accessible from a single interface dramatically simplifies treasury management. Instead of maintaining positions across multiple protocols, dashboards and wallets, everything is available in one interface. Could this be THE tool for mass onchain onboarding we were hoping it would be? Honestly, the tech feels like it is. This is by far the closest to a CEX experience I have seen by a long shot, whilst being entirely DeFi based. Is it ready for Kash to tell his nan to jump on and start investing? Not yet. The current interface is still very much built for traders. As a DeFi power user, I love it, but for someone completely new to crypto it's still fairly intimidating. That said, this is exactly what a private beta should be, proving the technology works first. Once that's nailed down, I can easily see simplified interfaces and Basic/Pro modes making the experience accessible to almost anyone. If you've looked through Siong's replies, it's clear this direction is already on their radar, which makes me optimistic about where GUM goes from here. Final Thoughts: As someone who's followed GUM closely over the last 18 months, I gotta say it absolutely lives up to the hype. I honestly expected something this ambitious to still be another year away from feeling usable. Instead, not only is it running, it's running remarkably well. There's still plenty to build, especially around accessibility, but if the team maintains this pace, I think GUM has every chance of becoming one of the defining products in DeFi. To Siong and the rest of the team working on GUM, congrats on releasing a private beta that almost eclipses the beauty of Kash's face.
