Apparently they had cast the wrong guy for the role of Will Hunting.
Ben Affleck reveals he writes Python, understands convolutional neural networks, worked extensively with GPUs, and used his celebrity status to get private looks at Google and OpenAI’s video models
“I’ve always been kind of into computers since I was young. Then, when film started to move from analog film to digital, I became more interested in that aspect of it. The visual-effects workflow for many years has included machine learning, so I can write pretty shitty Python scripts and stuff like that.
“With convolutional neural networks, which were the precursors to what the transformer can do, which is much more computation simultaneously, you would do things like look at what’s called a tensor. That’s the numerical translation of a visual image in numbers, like the batch number, the frame number and the red, green and blue values of each pixel in each frame. It’s just that simple. That numeric is called a tensor.
“You’d use a convolutional neural network to identify patterns that reveal what’s called edge detection or feature extraction, which is identifying patterns well enough to know, this is where the window ledge is, so we can more easily take the green-screen image out and replace it with something.
“That was familiar to me early on because, prior to Artists Equity, I had a small visual-effects company. I’ve worked with GPUs a lot too. The visual-effects guys said, ‘Hey, you should see. There are a couple: Google and this other company, OpenAI, are doing really interesting stuff with transformers in video.’
“I’ve learned that I can actually just call up and go, ‘Hey, it’s Ben Affleck. Can I come see what you’re doing?’ Sometimes people say yes, to my astonishment.”

All hijackers are stupid but the extra stupid ones try to hijack a plane full of 180 Israelis all of whom have gone through some of the best military training the world has to offer & an Indian pilot who thinks honor and karma are bigger than his own life. Get well soon Capt'n 🫡

My salute to the Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar for his extraordinary bravery.
Despite being stabbed and seriously injured, he fought back, resisted, opened the cockpit door, and enabled passengers and crew to overpower the attacker — preventing a catastrophic mid-air disaster.
He saved the lives of 174 people, including Israeli citizens and other nationals.
I wish Captain Machchhar a speedy and full recovery.
He is a true hero.

Modern life has tricked us into thinking travel is good.
It's kind of barbaric for the body.
Last time I went to Asia we measured my biomarkers.
The data was bad…
+ 9 days for blood glucose stability
+ 9 days to re-entrain my circadian rhythm
+ 18 days for sleep architecture recovery
The research:
+ people who travel constantly for work (3+ wks a month) have measurably more anxiety, depression, and drinking problems than people who don’t
+ repeated jet lag is linked to memory-region shrinkage in flight crews
+ your immune system takes a hit. Dry cabin air dries out mucous membranes that block infection which can leave you more exposed to getting sick
This is intuitive because the body runs on a clock. Biological processes kicked off by another, with sleep + sun running the show.
Cabin altitude is ~7,000 ft. Hypoxia alone disrupts cortisol and suppresses nocturnal melatonin for hours after you land. Cabin humidity drops as low as 5% (drier than the Sahara).
If you’re budgeting your international trips: I’d suggest no more than once every 3 months. Evidence shows you need ~1 day per time zone to re-entrain, and east is worse than west.
Once Kate gets back she’s starting the female protocol. This also means she can’t travel internationally for at least a few months while we collect baseline measurement.
The body understands time zone changes as trauma.
I hope that this is my last international trip for a very long time.

BJP will have to understand that the voters in the 18-24 age group in 2029 will not be like those in 2014. They are not readers but reelers. Most of them wouldn't have picked up a print newspaper ever. Their political knowledge doesn't come from books but from Instagram.

I barely post anything these days.
But today, an abominable lowlife called Ruchika Sharma abused Shivaji Maharaj. She falsely dubbed him as a 'looter' on Live TV. She made a factually inaccurate and slanderous statement.
The man who gave Hindus freedom, respect and dignity gets insulted. Thankless Hindu nation doesn't even bother.

I'm not sure most people truly understand the cost of transitioning from ICE vehicles to electric vehicles.
Are we just moving pollution from city streets to biodiversity hotspots?
Indonesia (~50% of the world's nickel) strip-mines paradise islands.
Congo (~70% of cobalt) destroys communities with child labour.
China controls the minerals that make EVs possible: 90% rare earths, 75% lithium, 80% tungsten.
All of this is powered by coal plants.
There are environmental costs at each step. Are we truly considering all this?
Knowing us(humans), we'll always chase "better technology" over what's better for the planet.
Cleaner streets, yes. But at the cost of dirtier oceans, shattered communities, and forgotten islands?

In Israel and Iran, China has asked its citizens to leave by themselves soon. The US has asked its citizens to leave asap "however they can."
Even such large countries with lots of resources are not organizing in earnest the evacuation of their citizens who are there for work, studies, or vacation.
Only India, as usual, is trying its best to help its citizens and get them to safety. Yet, I see so many thankless citizens criticize and question the govt for their effort like it is their birth right.
No, it is NOT your birth right to be extracted on demand when you go on your own to these countries. Or supported and evacuated at all.
India must do a social media and media campaign to drive home this point. That while the govt will do everything in its power and ability to offer assistance to overseas Indians, it is on a humanitarian and need basis and not their birth right.
Because some think and act like it is their birth right to get to any country they want for their work, studies, or pleasure, and won't be insured or leave in time when things go bad, but it is Indian govt's responsiblity to ensure their safety.
No. No country has such responsiblity. Even in Afghanistan or Iraq, the US evacuated only its military and staff who work there on behalf of the country. Not common citizens. It is always their own responsiblity.
Before 2015 they didn't even bother we existed outside India. Don't forget that. And have some sense of gratitude. Other countries don't even bother about this except give a warning, mostly later than India does.

India needs to shed its colonial mindset where salaries are capped below the Cabinet Secretary just because he’s the “supreme servant.” Why should a scientist mastering quantum physics earn less than someone whose top qualification is memorizing the 3 Battles of Panipat and Harappa-Mohenjodaro?
This is exactly why many IITians don’t join ISRO.

To all those demanding reservation in India’s private sector — look at South Africa before you destroy what’s left of merit and growth. A case study.
South Africa has spent over two decades forcing racial quotas in the private sector — reserving 60% of top positions for Black, Coloured, and Indian groups — all under the banner of “equality.”
And the result?
A Nation Drowning in Unemployment:
* Unemployment Rate: 32.1%
* Youth Unemployment: Over 60%
* Worse than most developing nations
(Source: Statistics South Africa, 2024)
Despite these policies, South Africa's economy is crumbling, and jobs are vanishing. Why?
The Harsh Truth: Reservation in Private Sector Does NOT Create Jobs.
It scares away businesses.
It rewards identity over merit.
It pushes skilled people out.
It breeds inefficiency and dependency.
What South Africa Did (And Failed):
* BEE Laws forced private companies to hire based on race, not competence.
* Quotas in management, ownership, and hiring ruined competitiveness.
* Companies reduced hiring, outsourced jobs, or left the country.
* A small elite benefitted — the poor remained poor, unemployed, and angry.
India, Learn From This Disaster.
* You want to add caste-based quotas to private companies already struggling with automation, global competition, and high taxes?
* You want to destroy merit and innovation just for political vote banks?
Reservation in the private sector is not social justice.
It’s economic suicide — just like South Africa.
The Solution?
* Quality education for all.
* Skill development, not caste division.
* Economic freedom, not political appeasement.
Think twice before demanding reservation in the private sector.
You're not asking for justice — you're asking for the slow death of opportunity, merit, and economic progress.
Don’t drag India into the same pit South Africa fell into. You’ll kill jobs, crush ambition, and punish excellence — all for caste politics.
