Excited to be sharing some of my data on cell type specific vulnerability to tau for the first time (surprise, I’ve also been working on tau as well as alpha synuclein) at #Tau2025 in London today!
Thank you to the organisers for the opportunity and conference fellowship!

It’s only taken 5 days but I think I’ve finally managed to navigate to Hall B and Hall C with above chance accuracy at #ADPD2025 😂😂
This whole centre is like a cognitive testing maze, and I’ve been put in the sleep deprivation condition 🥲😅
🗣️ Come along to Hall C this evening at #ADPD2025 for my talk on modelling Lewy pathology in selectively vulnerable iPSC dopaminergic and cortical neurons in AD and PD!
It’s a late one (7:10pm in the stem cell session) but I promise lots of cool images to make it worth it 😁
Catch me this week at #ADPD2025!
📜 Poster: 01-025 on Wednesday and Thursday.
🗣️ Talk: Friday 17:10 in Hall C, in the “Cell Replacement Therapy and Diagnostics” session.
Can promise cool cell pictures (and learning about synucleinopathy in AD) at both!

Dicey start to #ADPD2025 with not enough food and lines out the door as 1000s queue for 3 tables.
Nevertheless, great talks to open from @wysscoray , @FlorenceLayburn, and Margot Teil, on proteome aging, tau in PD, and PFFs. Glad more people are considering mixed pathology!
Double rainbow in Edinburgh this morning! (Before it started hailing on me…)
Going to be a good last day of #SCMND2025!
Very cool talk by @The_SERIOus_Dr about axon modelling and how much size matters at #SCMND. Lots of food for thought on neurite outgrowth and the influence of cell morphology on disease phenotypes.
Come by poster #34 at #SCMND to see some cool pictures of Lewy Pathology in cortical and dopaminergic neurons! 😁🧫
(And learn about how Lewy bodies form, what effect they have on cells, and what cell characterisrics make them vulnerable and resilient in AD and PD 🙂)
They say the PhD is a marathon not a sprint. The other week, some of us from the @WadeMartinsLab successfully ran the #OxfordHalf (my first ever!), raising money for @ParkinsonsUK - thanks to all who supported us 😁
Now in one week, the PhD viva and marathon will be over too! 🤞
Running the Oxford Half Marathon today for @ParkinsonsUK with some fellow members of the @WadeMartinsLab!
We’ve been training hard the last few months but I’ve never run this far before so 🤞
You can support us and the amazing work done by PUK here - bit.ly/3BeZh9A.
Congratulations Katie! 🧡
I picked up my @LondonMarathon number yesterday! It’s all becoming very real now…. Not too late to donate to #SuesCrew for @AlzResearchUK to help raise the money which funds such important work!

We're hosting a Crankstart Research Summer Internship with a flexible start time from late July!
As an intern, you'll get hands-on experience in a working dementia research lab growing live human brain cells and using cutting-edge molecular biology techniques! See below😃🧠

Cellular Resilience in Dementia – hosted by @AjanthaAbey @WadeMartinsLab
Ideal for students starting second year and above, enthusiastic about neuroscience or cell biology, with an interest in fundamental research. bit.ly/4aP7RZw
Had a great time showing people around the huge inflatable brain at the ParkinsonsUK #BigCreamTea on the weekend with others in the @WadeMartinsLab @OxfordPDCentre!
We had lots of wonderful conversations. Thanks @PUK_Oxford for putting together a great time for everyone ☕️ 🧠
Great commentary and visualisation of an overlooked aspect of the issue.

Was great to see several talks and many posters at #ARUKConf24 talking about using iPSCs in dementia research!
This is an exciting area and a huge development for the field! I decided to write about it for @demrescommunity recently - you can learn all about it here:
:D
The transformative power of iPSCs in understanding the human brain is elegantly captured in @ajanthaabey's latest research. #BrainScience #iPSCrevolution

Come find me at Poster 6.02 this evening or tomorrow at @ARUKscientist’s #ARUKConf24!
Excited to talk about selective vulnerability in our iPSC neuron models and all things alpha synuclein PFFs, autophagy, calcium, synapses, and more 😁
Through a complex series of coaches, planes, buses, and trains, finally made it to #ARUKConf24! Looking forward to the next couple of days in Liverpool 😁
A wrap for those of us representing the @WadeMartinsLab at @adpdnet! Two talks, two posters, plenty of meetings, and some dinners as well 😋
Looking forward to next year in Vienna!
