On Oct 7, 2023, Yonatan Samerano a"h was murdered, and his body was taken to Gaza. Last week, Aish Pillars Daniel & Bari Erber dedicated a Torah in his memory, written at the Nova site. Family and friends celebrated his life in the Aish sukkah. May his memory be a blessing.

Three years since October 7.
It fell on Simchat Torah, the day Jews everywhere dance with the Torah. And it wasn't the first time darkness came to us on that day.
In Kraków, the Nazis ordered a Jew to trample the Torah scrolls in front of the whole community. He picked them up, held them to his heart and danced. They shot him with the Torah in his arms.
Jews kept dancing in the ghettos, in the camps, and in the DP camps after the war.
We cry, and we dance. Not because the world is perfect, but because we believe in what it can become.
This year, take the name of one person murdered on October 7 and live a little of their goodness. I'm doing the same.
May their memory be a blessing.
This has been a terrific week: Birkat Kohanim, Ben Hassin getting a blessing from the Ambassador from Panama Ezra Cohen, and a concert on the roof with the dedication of a new Torah.
Starting a chain of some of the more memorable moments thus far from Sukkot.
Earlier this week, we welcomed our newest student, Binyamin (Ben) Hassin, to Aish. When he arrived at the Kotel, our students and staff danced with him from the entrance to the wall, singing 'Tov Lehodot LaHashem'.

"I'm sorry" isn't actually what Yom Kippur asks of us. We ask God for forgiveness three separate ways, and they mean different things.
There's Selicha: please don't take revenge on me. There's Mechila: let's restore what we had. And there's Kappara, the deepest one: I regret that my wrong put pain into the world at all, not because of what happens to me, but because of what it did to you. That's the place to come from this Yom Kippur.
Make your list. Own what's yours to own. And forgive the people who hurt you too, they're broken like the rest of us. God has more faith in us than we have in Him.
Gmar chatima tova.
Thank you so much to @ariblaff for the terrific piece about us and our work that appeared yesterday in @thedispatch

Everyone is busy prior to Rosh Hashanah. So put this on while you are getting ready for the Holiday.
Every year we walk into the New Year with sincere plans to change, and every year they collapse within days. Rabbi Daniel Rowe breaks down the two mistakes almost everyone makes with resolutions: dreaming too big to sustain, or shrinking the goal so small it doesn't matter.

Its one thing when Tucker Carlson misunderstands the Bible. At least both he and Huckabee agreed that no political party in Israel is remotely advocating for trying to establish the borders of Genesis 15.
But trust Francesca to take things to the next level.
As it happens the Bible itself does not mean that the Biblical state of Israel should be from the Euphrates to the Nile as I explain in this video

On the most recent episode of Real Talk, @rabbidanielrowe and Father Piotr Zelazko, head of the Hebrew-speaking Catholic Church in Israel, dive deep into a wide-ranging and deeply honest conversation about one of the most complex relationships in religious history: Catholics and Jews.

Tucker Carlson vs. the Bible: What Does It Really Say About Israel’s Borders?
In a recent viral exchange, Tucker Carlson pressed Mike Huckabee on a claim that keeps resurfacing online: that the Bible gives Israel a divine mandate to expand its borders from the Nile to the Euphrates. Is that actually what the Bible says?
In this episode of Rabbi Rowe Reacts, I break down the biblical sources being cited, explain where this idea comes from, and demonstrate why it’s so often misunderstood.
