Pre-Alpha Release: xng 0.10.1
Announcing the first pre-alpha release for the public to learn, experiment and use xng, a next-generation multi-mode decoder client.
We've been working on a single binary, multi-decoder client for a long time. We tossed most away, and then got sidetracked with other things, only to come back again and again.
We think we have it this time:
- Rust language & features
- core-based approach to decoding
- legacy support + wrappers
- Airframes as 1st Class, full support for anyone else
- flexible licensing (MIT & APACHE)
There is so much to say about this pre-release. But I'm going to save it for the die hards to inspect more closely. We'll elaborate in more detail to the rest of the community as a 1.0.0 becomes closer.

Super proud Dad moment. The KRIV Iridium is hosted by my son, and the HC610 has been sitting on the bottom rail since he moved in.
With @ElbaSatGuy and @cemaxecuter big jump in position decoding, I asked him to mount it on the top rail. This is the process he took for #avgeek and #osint
Totally knocked it out of the park! Huge jump in range.

Your 2025 airband radio holiday shopping guide. I believe in the “Good, Better, Best” philosophy. From left to right - Tidradio TD-H3, Quansheng UV-K1 Mini Kong, Uniden BC125AT, Radtel 950 PRO, Icom IC-R15. They are all winners and have excellent sensitivity in the VHF airband.
If I could only have one, the Icom R15 would be it. It can scan and search at lighting speeds, it can dual receive meaning you can listen to 2 frequencies simultaneously, internal audio recording, waterproof, made in Japan… the list goes on.
If you want the best bang for your buck and have never listened to airband before, the rest are all a toss up.

This is a fun project I'm finishing up... it's called RadarScope.
RadarScope takes #ADSB data from #dump1090 and #ACARS data from #dumpvdl2 and displays it on a vintage green scope display.
It correlates and embeds the ADS-B and ACARS messages for use by #AI.
Surface features such as airports, cities, coastlines can be toggled on/off.
In the lower frame you can chat with the AI - running locally - about the aircraft data you're receiving in real-time.
