I have said this repeatedly, we simply do not value human life enough in this country. We are losing too many lives each day on our roads, mostly through accidents that are completely avoidable. Our road and public transport system is broken, with little respect for law and order. We have failures like @ntsa_kenya with their nonstop PR gimmicks, agencies like @KeNHAKenya , my brother @MuriraKinoti and his able team at @KURAroads , together with our world class urban visionaries at @047County , who have neglected the basics and chosen to look the other way. This is Redhill Bypass. We already have tuk tuks, boda bodas, stalls, matatus most of which unroadworthy parked at a roundabout and all manner of obstruction. Now we have mikokoteni on it too. Enforcement creates discipline. Discipline becomes a habit, and over time that habit becomes a culture. Until we understand this, the chaos on our roads will continue and we will keep losing lives unnecessarily. It is what it is.
Dear @KeNHAKenya, kindly take a drive along the Redhill Bypass and see what is happening. The pedestrian walkways and paths are slowly being taken over by tuk tuks, while small stalls and vibandas are mushrooming along the entire bypass. Why can’t we have an organised way of accommodating eateries and small businesses, as we see along major highways in many of the countries we constantly say we want to emulate? Meanwhile, our national failures @ntsa_kenya can happily come and arrest pedestrians while ignoring the lawlessness happening right in front of them. The damage being done to the infrastructure and kerbs is clearly visible, with tuk tuks and boda bodas illegally crossing the bypass and creating stages along the road. Incompetence, corruption and lack of enforcement are slowly destroying what was once a beautiful and organised city. At this rate, I will not be surprised to see full markets, boda stages and tuk tuk termini mushrooming along the entire bypass. We watch disorder begin, allow it to become normal, then wonder how we got here. #ReclaimNairobi

With a tank full of diesel, Faya Tess playing on repeat, and the road stretching out to Kigumo, I was ready to go. So many camping spots on private farms. 4*4 how highly recommended.

If Ruto wants us to fight to protect our democratic rights and space, we will. I am not going to raise kids in a country they cannot speak up. That would make me a total failure as a father. Those around Ruto, encouraging him to keep using police as goons, your days of reckoning are nigh.

NTSA, this requires serious reflection. I have just watched Citizen TV News report the tragic death of a passenger, Mureithi, who was allegedly pushed from a moving Super Metro bus by a tout. His head struck the road and he died on the spot. What makes this particularly disturbing is that it is not an isolated incident. Last year, Citizen TV also reported a passenger, Gilbert, who was pushed from a Super Metro bus over a mere KSh 50 fare dispute and survived with injuries. In that case, the driver was arrested and a few penalties followed, yet operations continued. Today, we are seeing the same pattern: arrest the driver and tout, then move on as though the system itself bears no responsibility. This raises a deeper question: at what point does repeated harm trigger institutional accountability at supermetro rather than individual punishment alone? In a functional transport system, recurring incidents of this magnitude would prompt suspension of routes by Super metro, heavy corporate fines, mandatory safety reforms, and strict oversight. When behavior repeats, it usually means the consequences are not strong enough to deter it. NTSA, what concrete measures are being taken to ensure passengers are not exposed to such risks again? Public transport exists to move people safely, not to endanger their lives.
