1. People think structured green-reading slows play.
We measured it.
~200 PGA Tour putts.
Full execution time tracked. All behaviors recorded.
The data says something very different.

Fast everywhere… except on the green?
According to Korn Ferry Tour pace-of-play data, not a single player fit that profile.
0 out of 147 players were among the fastest 25% off the tee, on approach, and around the green—but in the slowest 25% on the greens.
The data suggests something simple: players don’t suddenly become slow once they reach the putting green. Fast players tend to stay fast throughout the hole.
The idea that putting is where “slow play starts” isn’t supported by the data.

“My demonstration yesterday had nothing to do with Aimpoint. I have no idea how anyone came to that conclusion.” - Lucas Glover. I agree and appreciate the honesty.

Roll distance isn’t a guess. It’s physics.
The amount a ball rolls uphill or downhill changes dramatically with green speed and slope. A putt that stops at 9 feet on one green may roll more than twice as far on another.
This is why elite players don’t rely on feel alone. They calibrate for the actual conditions in front of them.
At AimPoint, we’ve spent decades measuring how slope, speed, and gravity influence ball roll—turning complex green-reading into repeatable decisions.

Is putting really the reason Tour players play slowly?
The Korn Ferry Tour’s relative speed-of-play data tells an interesting story.
Across 147 players, those who were fast on the greens were generally fast everywhere else. Players who were slow putting were typically slower throughout the hole—not just on the greens.
In other words, this dataset provides no evidence that a specific putting routine causes otherwise fast players to slow down.
If putting routines were the primary cause of slow play, you’d expect otherwise fast players to become slow only once they reached the green.
That’s not what the data shows.
The evidence suggests pace of play is primarily a player habit, not a putting habit.

Faster greens create dramatically more break — even on the exact same putt and slope. That’s why understanding speed and slope together is critical to great putting. makeeverything.aimpointgolf.…
May 1, 2005 AimPoint first aired on CBS. Three years after, Golf Channel won an Emmy for it. 21 years later now and 90% of golf commentators haven’t taken the time to understand it and still compare it to a plumb bob.
91% of putts on PGA Tour violate the 40-second rule.
Up-the-line visuals are used 68% of time.
Pure AimPoint eliminates them.
