The Avalanche Foundation today delivered a keynote highlighting the economic framework shaping the Foundation's economics research agenda:
Measure → Capture → Distribute
We look forward to sharing further updates through our Economics of Blockchain series as this work develops 🔺

The Foundation's research agenda comes down to two key areas of focus: sustainable value accrual, and validator economics.
In practice, that means value captured sustainably, at scale, without disrupting the activity that creates it, and validator rewards that outpace inflation.
That's what we're working towards.
A stronger Avalanche 🔺

This is what institutional adoption at national scale looks like.
The UAE is using Avalanche to power its national digital identity infrastructure for 12M+ residents. Governments demand trust, security, and reliability above everything else.
Avalanche is built for all three 🔺
BREAKING: The UAE is using Avalanche to power its national digital identity infrastructure, serving 12M+ people
UAE PASS is the country’s national digital identification system- it gives citizens, residents, and visitors a secure way to verify their identity, sign documents and access thousands of government and private-sector services.
Now, @tdrauae is working with Deca4 to integrate Avalanche technology as the infrastructure powering the UAE PASS Digital Vault.
The Vault lets users securely access and share verified official documents, while blockchain is used to verify their authenticity and ensure they haven’t been altered.
National-scale digital infrastructure, built for millions, and powered by Avalanche.

Inside the Call for Research Proposals 🔺
Over 160 proposals have been submitted, with approximately 95 progressing to review by our selection committee.
As the program reaches this stage, we wanted to share insights into the topics our researchers have been examining 📊

The Foundation's research agenda is aimed at measuring real economic activity properly, and exploring mechanisms that could capture and route that value sustainably.
Well worth a watch, for a good conversation on where this is headed 🔺
Measure → Capture → Distribute 🔺
The Avalanche Foundation joined @TheBlockCo's Layer One Podcast to discuss the framework and mechanisms guiding our research agenda.
Hear from @frostLedger and @eric_lu_sc for deeper insights into the thinking behind it ⤵️

Eric and I joined @TheBlockPods Layer One Podcast to go deeper on our economics research agenda.
Looking at GCP, GCI, capture mechanisms, and what distribution actually looks like in practice.
Well worth a watch. The details are in the episode 🔺

Most layer-1s still fund validators by taxing holders with inflation.
Avalanche Foundation economists want inflation at zero — and validators paid from value the chain actually captures.
"What if we could lower inflation to zero and give them the value that they captured? That's a structural reason for validators to stay."
@AvalancheFDN CIO Matias Antonio (@frostLedger) and Lead Economist Eric Lu (@eric_lu_sc) on measure → capture → distribute.

The Avalanche Foundation's Lead Economist, @eric_lu_sc, discusses the Foundation's growth agenda in an interview with @AvaxTeam1.
The conversation offers a deeper look at our framework: measuring value, capturing it, and distributing it back into the ecosystem - and how each stage applies in practice.

GDP measures a country's economy.
Until now, a blockchain had no equivalent.
@AvalancheFDN just built one. Gross Chain Income (GCI) is a natural extension of the GCP framework, measuring new sources of value in the Avalanche economy.
Read below.

Gross Chain Product told us how much value the Avalanche ecosystem produces.
Gross Chain Income tells us where that value goes.
Eric maps it all out and sets the agenda for what comes next.

🔺 Call For Research Proposals Update
Over 150+ applications were received and have now been through initial review for quality, scope, and relevance. All applicants have been informed of their status.
Thank you to everyone who submitted a proposal - the quality and volume of applications has been genuinely encouraging.
Selected proposals are now moving to review by our academic research committee, which brings together members from Ava Labs, the Avalanche Foundation, and leading academics with deep expertise in economics, finance, and decentralised network design.
Further updates to follow.
