I always wondered about these so-called "seed destructors" put on the back of combines.
🌱 Exploring end-of-season weed control through seed destruction. Last week, we visited Jim Reul at Reul Farms in Rice Lake, northern Wisconsin, where he has installed the Redekop Harvest Weed Seed Control system on his combine. We collected samples to evaluate how effectively the technology crushes and devitalizes waterhemp seeds — targeting weed seeds at harvest before they return to the soil. Preliminary findings look promising. Lab testing is ongoing, so stay tuned for more updates! Harvest weed seed control could be another valuable strategy in an integrated weed management program. A big thank you to Jim for welcoming us to his farm. We greatly appreciate the opportunity to work directly with our farmers and industry stakeholders to evaluate technologies and advance practical weed management strategies.

Leave it to private ingenuity--as in the Waffle House--to have a plan to keep things running if possible during natural disasters. Others have noticed & created the Waffle House Index. If a Waffle House is open, even with a limited menu, it's a good sign apnews.com/article/waffle-ho…

It's ludicrous that Burbank, CA, spent 1.3 billion on a new airport terminal, yet didn't add jetways. You still walk across the tarmac and up portable stairs to the plane. That should be "fun" when the super El Nino hits this winter sfgate.com/travel/article/ne…

Looks like #GarWeek is late this year. Dec. 16 is rumored to be the kick-off date. Is that true, @SolomonRDavid ?

Family-owned 3,500-acre vineyard & winery in Ripon, CA, up for sale, a victim of the Canada trade war. McManis had been exporting 40% of its volume north. Now it's down to a trickle. Add to that the overall malaise within the wine industry, and it's tough sacbee.com/news/business/art…
