I hate to be the one to burst the Tesla bubble today, but the spectacular “flight” we witnessed at the Roadster reveal needs a little context. The car is carrying around 250kg of compressed air, plus the weight of the tanks, valves and thrusters needed to contain and release it. Based on the published figures, that gives it roughly 1.5–2 seconds of maximum thrust before the system needs to be refilled. In short, it's a gimmick.

Good grief. Imagine having a problem with a woman FEEDING her baby like this. Sorry but if your husband is incapable of not staring at a woman's breasts while she feeds, that's that's husband issue not a mother issue. What a pair of arseholes

If you’re an American citizen, GO VOTE LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT. Your rights. Your freedoms. Your family’s future. The direction of this nation. These are not decisions you should leave entirely in someone else’s hands. You owe yourself a voice. Vote your conscience. Vote for your future. Make your voice heard. Democracy is not a spectator sport. Indian American Advocacy Council (IAAC) 🇺🇸

I just cast my ballot for James Talarico. As a second-generation Indian American, I am thoroughly disgusted by the xenophobia, racial resentment, and increasingly brazen attacks on my identity. My family has contributed to the American story through hard work, sacrifice, and an unwavering belief in the opportunities this nation promises. I am every bit as American as anyone else, and I will not tolerate being treated as a perpetual foreigner in the country I call home. I implore every eligible Texan to get out and vote. This election is about the kind of state and country we are prepared to defend—and the principles we refuse to surrender. @TeamTalaricoHQ @texasdemocrats

I'm not crying. YOU ARE. A young man crowned Homecoming King at a Pennsylvania high school stunned the cheering crowd by passing the honor to the runner-up. This young man was raised right. We need MUCH, MUCH more of this. 😢

From the high schools of France to the streets of Madrid to the universities of Tirana, young people are telling their governments the same thing: in an age of massive wealth inequality, they want a future they can believe in. In France, students and teachers are asking for safe schools, enough teachers and smaller classes. In Spain, for affordable rent and housing. In Albania, for good jobs and an end to corruption. @JDVance says this is what happens when a nation lets in too many immigrants from the global south. He is not just morally wrong, but misreading the moment. The is what happens when nations let wealth and power accumulate in the hands of a few. This is what happens when young people lose hope in their future. In America, let us listen to our young. We need an economic and political transformation. America's Next New Deal.

This map shows the long march of atrocities and injustices against Native Americans in real time—with the US annexation of Indigenous land came starvation, suffering, and genocides of Native civilians!

The most dystopian fitness video on the internet just dropped. 🚨💀 Paris is literally burning, protesters are shutting down the streets, and this woman is casually jogging past a burning barricade like it’s a treadmill session. She is literally running through thick black smoke because hitting her daily step count is a higher priority than whatever revolution is happening around her. Pure, unfiltered main character syndrome. The absolute disrespect to the entire riot.

### Shimon Peres to Vladimir Putin: “I said to him: ‘You are 63 years old, and I am 93. Tell me, what do you want to achieve over the next 30 years? What are you fighting for? Are you hoping to irritate America?’ He replied: — No. — Does America want to take part of Russia? — No. — Do you have problems with Obama because of some misunderstanding? He asked: — Why are you asking me this? I said: — Listen, I am not a spy. You can talk to me about anything. He asked: — And what do you think? I replied: — America will win, no matter what you do. — Why? — he asked. — Because they are happy, and you are not. And I continued: When an American wakes up in the morning, what does he see? To the south, Mexico — and Mexicans are welcomed into his country. To the north, Canada, his best friend in the world. And to the east and west, fish swimming in the water. What does Obama have to worry about? And you? Who do you see around you when you wake up in the morning? Japan, China, Afghanistan? My God! They know you have an enormous territory, yet you give them nothing. You possess 20 percent of the world's freshwater reserves, but you share nothing with others. And when the snow in Siberia melts, the first people you will see there will be the Chinese. After all, there are many Chinese in the east and very few Russians. The second thing I told him was this: America has the best ratio of land area to population in the world. You have the worst. Twenty million square kilometers! My God! But you don't have enough people to develop that territory. Your people are dying. Do not be seduced by applause or by what people tell you. They will never forgive you for this. Why do Russians live, on average, only 62 years, while Americans live to 82? And then I told him: — You behave like a tsar. What did the tsars do? They built two cities — St. Petersburg and Moscow — as showcases. You can find anything you want there. But the rest of Russia is Nigeria covered in snow. Your people are dying. You are not giving them the opportunity to live with dignity. Do you really think they will forgive you? — Why is America great? — he asked. — Because America gives. And why does Europe have problems? Because Europe takes. America gives. People think Americans do this because they are generous. I believe they do it because they are wise. When you give, you make friends. The most valuable investment you can ever make is an investment in friendship. America had the courage to implement the Marshall Plan. It devoted an enormous share of its GDP to helping Europe, which was lying in ruins at the time. And by doing so, America proved that such assistance is one of the best investments in the world. There was not a single European country that had not been an empire. The French, the British, the Portuguese — they all had colonies. And what happened? They were driven out and left with nothing. Britain was the greatest empire, the empire on which the sun never set. It controlled all the oceans. But even the nonviolent resistance of the Indian people forced Britain to leave, reducing it to just three small islands that it now doesn't know what to do with. Believe me,’ I told Putin, ‘enemies and hostility are the greatest losses in life. You are investing in stupidity.’” — Attributed to Shimon Peres, former President of Israel, recounting a conversation with Vladimir Putin.

No Jan - you got caught red handed trying to help prop up a paid GOP operative who was there to spread false, racist lies about Abdul because he is Muslim. Shame on you.
Earlier, I tweeted a video from an Abdul El-Sayed town hall. I deleted that tweet because it was a violation of CBS News standards. I apologize.

India. Angus Maddison data shows the Indian subcontinent largest for ~1500 years (mainly 1–1500 AD, plus ~1700), longer than China (~300 years) or the US (~130).

This year’s peace laureate Navi Pillay, dedicated her prize to "all the survivors of international crime." Pillay’s career has been defined by an unwavering commitment to universal legal principles and a strong moral compass. She has played a pivotal role in efforts to prosecute war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide. Throughout her career, Pillay has held states and political leaders accountable while offering hope to victims of violence and conflict. Born into a family of Indian Tamil heritage, Pillay grew up under apartheid in South Africa. As a lawyer, she confronted deep structural discrimination, segregation and exclusion. In 1967, Pillay was one of only three women admitted as an attorney and became the first non-white woman to establish her own legal practice in Natal. As she later recalled, she had little choice: “No law firm would employ me because they said they could not have white employees taking instructions from a coloured person.” As a non-white lawyer under apartheid, she was also barred from entering a judge's chambers. A clear thread runs through her life’s work, from her early defence of Nelson Mandela and other anti-apartheid activists to her later service as a judge in some of the key international court cases of our time. Pillay has served as a judge of the High Court of South Africa, the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, and the International Criminal Court (ICC). When the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda established that rape and sexual violence could constitute a crime against humanity – as well as genocide – her influence was a significant factor. She was the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and, until recently, she chaired the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Today Pillay is a judge on the International Court of Justice in the case where Myanmar stands accused of genocide. With this year’s prize the Norwegian Nobel Committee seeks to underline that the rule of law forms the foundation of the international system for maintaining peace and resolving conflicts without violence. History has shown that a world without respect for the rule of law becomes unjust and inhumane. Judges, who safeguard the fragile line between order and chaos, deserves recognition for their vital work. Yet today these judges are increasingly under attack, and the institutions they serve face sanctions. For that reason, people like Navi Pillay are needed now more than ever.
