"The Linyanti is one of the richest areas in Botswana. We share a boundary with Chobe National Park on one side and Namibia on the other. Because we share that boundary, our wildlife diversity is incredible. We have large herds of elephants, buffalo, zebra, and giraffe, plus a strong leopard population. There are also wild dogs denning in the area. Good numbers of hyenas. And lions that use the Linyanti as a retreat. Every six months to a year, you expect to see new males moving in and that is something I have noticed working here for years. As a guide, Linyanti teaches you not to chase the game. You learn to read the area, understand the season, and let the bush do the work." - Guide Mighty 📍: Linyanti Bush Camp, Linyanti Reserve, Botswana

"We had been tracking this pack for two days and that afternoon we finally found the den. The adults were out on the hunt and at first all we could see were two that stayed behind. Suddenly, the puppies started coming out. One, then another. We counted nine, maybe ten. When the hunting party returned, they came back to the den and regurgitated food to share with the puppies and the babysitter. That is the only way they can carry food from the kill to the den. Wild dog numbers are declining from poisoning, disease, and predation when the pups are young and vulnerable. Botswana has one of the highest remaining populations, at least 2,000 left. That is why they are so highly protected here. That is why people come to Botswana. I remember that day clearly. Everyone was so happy to see and appreciate the wild dogs." - Guide Mighty 📍: Linyanti Bush Camp, Linyanti Reserve, Botswana

Meet Guide Mighty. "Nineteen years ago, I joined African Bush Camps as a waiter. Today, I am a guide. Growing up near the Okavango Delta, I watched my uncle share his knowledge of the bush with guests and knew, one day, I wanted to do the same. But that journey was not a straight line. I started as a waiter, moved into the kitchen as a chef, got my driver's license, and in 2014 took the leap into guiding. By 2016, I had my guiding license. Each camp and each guest has taught me something I could not have learned anywhere else. What I love most about guiding is the ability to interpret, anticipate, and share the wild. To help a guest see and feel Africa in a way they never forget. And when they come back year after year, I know we have done something right. African Bush Camps did not just give me a career. They also gave me a purpose." 📍: Khwai Leadwood, the Okavango Delta, Botswana

"I was just a boy when I first met elephants. They wandered through our family garden; silent, enormous, and ancient. I remember the earth almost vibrating under their feet. That moment stayed with me, not because it was wild or dangerous, but because it felt like something sacred had passed through. I realize today that those elephants were not just animals, they were messengers." - Beks Ndlovu, Founder and CEO of African Bush Camps The elephant isn't just part of our brand. It represents strength, wisdom, loyalty, and community. Let's continue to conserve their world, together. 📷: Cam Scott

Some bonds are unbreakable. Elephant calves are rarely out of reach of their mothers. In those early years, the herd moves around them, watches over them, and keeps them close. This is community in its most instinctive form, and one that depends on us to conserve it. This World Elephant Day, when our herd travels, their herd thrives.

The matriarch doesn't hesitate when danger is near. In elephant society, she is the memory of the herd, its leader and the first line of defence. When a lion threatens one of the youngest, instinct takes over. She stands her ground, placing herself between the predator and her calf. The elephant isn't just our logo. She's our legacy. #elephant #wildlife #lion

"In my culture, every family has a totem. Mine is Ndlovu, the elephant. When I first started African Bush Camps, I didn't go looking for a symbol. I already had one. I simply chose to build a company guided by the same values the elephant has always represented. Two decades later, the elephant still leads the way. So, in honor of World Elephant Day, we are celebrating with purpose. For every safari booking of three nights or more this year, we'll donate $330 to African Bush Camps Foundation to conserve the future of our herds. And, as a thank you, you'll enjoy 5% off your booking. If you book before 12 September, you'll also receive 10% off Safari Logistics flights and a complimentary massage. Because when our herd travels, their herd thrives." -Beks Ndlovu, Founder & CEO of African Bush Camps

This is the magic of Kanga Expeditions, where wildlife carries on as nature intended, and you're fortunate enough to witness it. As a mother elephant paused to hydrate at the pool, her three-month-old calf seized the opportunity for a drink of its own. Have you ever seen anything this cute? 📷: Michael Laubscher 📍: Kanga Expeditions, Mana Pools National Park, Zimbabwe

“Such an incredible sighting on our afternoon drive and what a brilliant end to the day! Just a few kilometers from camp, we came across a pair of aardwolves mating. They’re such a rare species so this was a real treat to catch them together. You could see the excitement on the guests’ faces! We’re hoping they’re doing well, and fingers crossed we’ll see some pups from them towards the end of the year. We’ll keep you updated.” - Guide Witness 📷: Guide Witness

At Somalisa Camp, the bush never runs out of surprises. Guide Mike and his guests had a front-row seat to one of nature's most extraordinary scenes. Have you ever been lost for words on safari? Journey with us to be guided by the best 📷: Guide Mike 📍: Somalisa Camp, Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe

The rhinos are finally home. More than 30 years after organized poaching devastated Matusadona's black rhino population, its guardians have returned. Not a new population introduced to fill a gap, but the direct descendants of the animals evacuated from this same land a generation ago. The same bloodline, come full circle. More than a conservation win, this is a declaration that the wild can heal, and that people, united by a shared purpose, can make it happen. At African Bush Camps Foundation, this is what Connected Landscapes, Thriving Communities looks like in practice. Congratulations to Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority, African Parks, Imire Rhino & Wildlife Conservancy, Matusadona Conservation Trust, and every individual whose dedication made this possible. Here's to the future of Matusadona National Park, and to every rhino that calls it home again. 📷: Hillary O'Leary, Marcus Westberg, and Wiki West

Listen in as Guide Cliffy reads an entire story written in the sand. To the untrained eye, they appear as overlapping pawprints. To Cliffy, they reveal a pride of 18 lions with the hunt already underway. Journey with us to be guided by the best. 📍: Nyamatusi Camp, Mana Pools National Park, Zimbabwe

We live in an era of constant connectivity, where screens rarely seem to pause. Safari invites something different: mornings guided by birdsong, afternoons measured by the movement of wildlife, and days where your attention belongs entirely to the moment in front of you. Tell us, what’s the first thing you’d do with a completely disconnected day? 📍: Mana Pools National Park, Zimbabwe

For young lion cubs, playtime is actually  survival training. Every tiny tumble and mischievous wrestle builds muscle, sharpens coordination, and prepares them for life in the wild. These little ones are already hard at work, they just don’t know it yet! 📍: Atzaró Okavango Camp, the Okavango Delta, Botswana

“This is Ria the cheetah. She has been around Somalisa since February 2016, so she knows this place well. On this day, she was going from termite mound to termite mound, climbing up, looking around. She was in a hunting mood, you could tell. She came close to camp, walking around, checking everything. Then she went down to the pan and we filmed her there with the camp in the background, which was really something. After drinking some water she just walked away, relaxed, up into the ridge towards Somalisa Expeditions. Just like that, she was gone again.” - Guide Calvet 📷: Guide Calvet 📍: Somalisa Camp, Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe
