Seeing lots of memes and Jokes on Venezuela but if start modeling even tiny creep of Heavy oil supply into North Americn WCS discount (currently over 19%) gets real bad quick - last thing we need is for refiners to have choice when Canada does not - Need pipes yesterday

Imagine you initiating a short on this company that has got this(13 year old PEA). You could triple the Capex to $100m USD, and the payback period will probably be less than 12 months because the APT price is $3000/MTU now. Even with an idled APT plant sitting beside 👀

For 50 years, jet engines became more efficient by making the fan larger and moving more air around the core. But keep increasing bypass ratio and eventually the nacelle itself becomes a penalty, larger, heavier and draggier. CFM International’s RISE program is betting the next leap requires removing it. Its Open Fan uses a roughly 4-metre exposed rotor with swept, variable-pitch blades, targeting 110-130 kN of thrust and Mach 0.8 ( 850 km/h ) cruise while cutting fuel burn by more than 20% versus today’s most efficient engines. Making that possible requires two opposite material problems to be solved simultaneously. The exposed blades are over 1.6 metres long. Safran is developing lightweight 3D-woven carbon-fibre composite blades because every kilogram removed at that radius reduces enormous centrifugal loads. Their sweep also helps manage the transonic aerodynamics encountered at jetliner speeds. Behind them sits an increasingly compact core. CFM is developing new compressors, combustors, turbine cooling, heat-resistant alloys and ceramic-matrix-composite technology to extract greater thermal efficiency while keeping the hot section durable. Next-generation high-pressure-turbine airfoils have already accumulated over 3,000 endurance cycles and 2,000 dust-ingestion cycles that have been ongoing now for 4-5 years. Then comes the harder problem, making an exposed rotor survive airline life. Bird strikes, hail, icing, vibration, fatigue, blade retention, noise and interaction with the aircraft itself all become certification problems. More than 175 blade ingestion and endurance tests are already complete with more ongoing. Open rotors actually flew in the 1980s. Noise, counter-rotating complexity and weak crude oil prices, helped kill them. Modern composites, computational aeroacoustic, variable-pitch controls and decades of hot-section advances have changed the equation and made these advances possible. Launched in 2021, RISE now involves over 2,000 engineers and roughly 500 test campaigns. Flight demonstration is planned for late this decade, with commercial technology targeted around 2035. If CFM succeeds, aviation’s next great jet engine may look remarkably like the propeller the jet age replaced.

After Pearl Harbor, one of the most vulnerable places in the United States was Alaska. Isolated, barely defended, closer to Japan than to Washington, and with no road connecting it to the rest of North America. Roosevelt ordered one built through 1,500 miles of Canadian wilderness. They gave the Army eight months. This is the story of the Alaska Highway..🧵1/4

No eucalyptus trees this far north but that doesn’t stop the Koala from visiting the foothills of the BC coastal mountains to see Berg and Surge Copper $SURG.V A lot to ponder but the key incrementals for the koala were: Access - very easy to get to from Smithers on good roads, Berg is basically at the beginning of the mountains not in the middle of them so you don’t have to “drive up the valley to get to the ski resort” or blast tunnels to get to the next valley over Footprint optimal - flying over the open pit shell you see it’s not a crazy strip and also how clear it is how the pit is above where the mill and tailings will be so the downhill conveyor and flat/downhill haulage from pit to crusher is self evident Leif had the new head of environmental/social/permitting on the trip and given Jennifer’s 20 years in the BC government it was refreshing to discuss the BC permitting process and get a sense of how it actually works Recognizing that Blackwater was already permitted when Artemis bought it off New Gold, it makes the Koala laugh how frightened the market seems to be about Berg when basically 100km away Artemis just walked the path Surge is about to and made investors phenomenal returns
