King Diamond Album Ranking from Worst to Best #1: Abigail (1987) Not only is this a great Metal concept album, this is one of the greatest concept albums of ALL TIME! Of ANY genre! One that you can see the story playing out in your head perfectly! One that can be turned into a movie if that wanted to! One where you can either play the whole thing through, or pick and choose what song to play and loose NONE of the plot! This album also turned me into a HUGE Andy Laroque fan! His lead playing on this album are some of the BEST in the ENTIRE genre! So good that I don’t know how he’s not mentioned more among the greats! I also LOVE how King’s vocals sound like he’s actually wailing in Abigail’s crypt! The atmosphere, the drama, the demented, all wrapped in a PERFECT package!👌🏻 I mean, every song is perfect! No dips, no bad moments. Every riff, solo, drum break just syncing together SO WELL! It’s SO HARD to pick a favorite song! If was FORCED to, it might be The Family Ghost! MY GAWD, that song is so killer! But really, throw a dart. If anyone say they have another favorite, it’s TOTALLY valid! Well, this is King’s crowning achievement! Fatal Portrait still had remnants of Mercyful Fate in it. But this is where he and his band found their true identity. The DEFINITION of a watershed moment! An absolute 10/10 masterpiece! 🤘🏻🔥

King Diamond Album Ranking from Worst to Best #11: Abigail II: The Revenge (2002) It’s very rare when a sequel is just as good or better than the original. This is…not one of those cases😂 This album screams “we are running out of ideas.” Now, that’s not to say I think this is a bad album, it’s just an unfocused album. Opposite of ‘Give Me Your Soul…Please’ I think King made this story to convoluted and all over the place. It’s hard to follow sometimes. I also think this is one King Diamond vocal performance that I’m not a big fan of. I think he tries to capture the magic of the first Abigail…with a voice that’s fifteen years older😂 This album isn’t a lost cause, however. Mansion In Sorrow is a TOP TIER King Diamond song! That song makes you feel like you’re listening to ‘Abigail’ again. But that’s about it😂 Other songs I think are good are Slippery Stairs, Broken Glass and The Wheelchair. I don’t go back to this album very often. But when I do, I find stuff I like. Just feels like a very unnecessary album…

King Diamond Album Ranking from Worst to Best #12: Give Me Your Soul…Please (2007) It was actually pretty difficult to decide what I think King’s worst album is. Frankly, I don’t think he has any outright terrible albums. But if there was any that came close to being bad, it’s this. What puts this at the bottom for me, is the story. This is probably the least creative concept King ever came up with. It’s just about a guy being haunted by spirits in his mansion…nothing crazy. Naturally, that means the lyrics are pretty straight forward and don’t really have a lot of depth. Also I think Andy Laroque is pretty tamed down on this. Not to say he doesn’t still KILL it. He’s just not as complex here as other albums. You want the best songs on this album? They are few and far between because most are somewhat forgettable. But the ones that stand out are GREAT! Never Ending Hill is a great opener! Black Of Night has that signature King Diamond sound. Mirror Mirror absolutely fucking RIPS! And The Floating Head has some NASTY chugging riffs in it! Like I said, I don’t think this album is bad, but something had to be at the bottom…this ranking is going to be HARD! 😂
