Singapore residents were left concerned after noticing collected rainwater had turned blackish-grey amid the ongoing haze. Images and videos shared online showed buckets filled with murky rainwater, prompting questions about what may have caused the unusual colour. Rain can pick up pollution particles as it falls, and during hazy conditions, fine smoke and other airborne particles may end up in the collected water. The unusual sight comes as Singapore continues to experience poor air quality, with PSI readings reaching the very unhealthy range in parts of the country.
