🚨 New paper led by K. Korwel: malnutrition affected 11.8% of outpatients with #IBD in this population-based study. Risk was higher in women and in those with recent disease activity, supporting regular nutritional screening. #Crohns #UlcerativeColitis

🚨Interesting new paper showing that access alone is not enough for adolescent engagement with digital health tools. Relevance, motivation, and support matter. Congratulations to A. Seiterö, @P_Henriksson_ and coauthors

🚲🚶♀️ Active commuting may do more than boost fitness. It is linked to less atherosclerosis.
Proud to share our new SCAPIS study.

In our SCAPIS study, active commuting was associated with 13% lower odds of coronary stenosis (OR 0.87; 95% CI 0.80–0.94) and 7% lower odds of coronary artery calcification (OR 0.93; 95% CI 0.86–1.00) vs car commuting.

New review out today in JAMA! 🎉 🎉 jamanetwork.com/journals/jam…
We hope this review can serve as a stepping stone for researchers wanting to utilize sibling designs, as well as for readers and reviewers evaluating studies that employ them
Sibling comparisons are a method used in observational studies to address confounding by shared familial factors such as genetics, early-life environment, and socioeconomic status.

🚨🫀 Do BMI and fitness in adolescence shape cardiovascular health decades later?
A team effort with @AdilloAngel @AhlqvistViktor @KristoferHedman @sarita_hf @DanielBerglind @drRadholm @ortegaporcel @P_Henriksson_ and others
doi.org/10.1016/j.amepre.202…
Following men for nearly four decades, we linked BMI and physical fitness at military conscription (~18 years) to midlife cardiovascular health (Life’s Essential 8) in SCAPIS among 8,930 Swedish men
Cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) is a vital sign per the American Heart Association but is still rarely measured.
We have validated the International Fitness Scale (IFIS) in adults with T2D, showing it’s a valid tool for high-risk patients 📊journals.plos.org/plosone/ar…
This association was particularly evident for systolic BP, with an increased
risk beginning at values as low as 120 mmHg.
