Week 16 of reaching $2,000/month and 400 followers as a video editor Stats Income: $1080 (This month) Clients: 2 Followers: 324 Haven’t been posting here for the last week since I’ve had so much to do I still have a lot to do, but I wanted to take some time to update you guys I’ve been spending my time editing a lot of ads and organic videos for my clients This is shaping up to be the month when I hit my target But as I said, I still have a lot of work left So let’s keep grinding, and we’ll see 👀

For almost exactly 1 year ago, I started my journey as a video editor 💻 After I made my first video in CapCut, I wanted to try a real editing software, so I bought PR and AE Then came the headache: Layers? Keyframes? Adjustment layers? Effects? Sound design? Storytelling? Yeah… we’ve all been there In desperation to learn and understand the software, I came across Malice’s Skool community, where I downloaded his editing pack and test videos It took me 1 month to finish my first video and it was sh*t I tried to edit some more, but it was so hard and time consuming My brother (@HenkVisuals ) gave me access to some of the courses he had used, where I learned shortcuts, how to think as an editor, and more Then, in April, I got my first client. I thought it was a good deal… but I got $10 for 4 long-form videos 😂😭 BUT it was a client, and I learned a lot During this time I was editing on my Macbook Air M2 with 8GB ram, you can imagen how hot and laggy it was to render a long form video haha So I took the money I had a bought a Macbook Pro M1 MAX with 64GB ram and 1TB storage for $2,000, and yes it was worth it From there, I just kept editing I understood that if I wanted to make faster progress, I had to invest in myself So I came across @Hadadbiz’s paid Skool community, where I learned the importance of personal brand and how to position yourself to stand out as an editor I started posting on X, and honestly, getting hundreds of followers felt impossible I was stuck at 40 followers for so long But after using my new knowledge of personal branding, my account started to get more and more followers After focusing on my personal brand, I got some inbound clients that I still work with today Then I felt that my editing wasn’t improving. I was doing the same effects, visuals, and sound design in every video So once again, I invested in myself and bought @tomlulofs’ editing course, where I learned a lot about design, effects, and how to actually edit the kind of videos I'm into And that’s where we are now During this year I’ve: • Worked with 5 different clients • Grown my personal brand from 0 to 300+ followers • Earned around $2,000+ $2,000 might sound smal, but it's realistic and true For me it’s been a crazy year, I’ve learned a lot and I still have so much to learn Thank you all for being part of this journey Let’s keep going 💪

Week 14 of reaching $2,000/month and 400 followers as a video editor Stats Income: $0 (This month) Clients: 2 Followers: 308 November was a great month I learned a lot of new things and built better relationships with my clients This month I want to take it a bit easier 2025 has been a crazy year So I want to use this month to help my clients, spend time with family, and reload for 2026 Sometimes we need to take a step back in order to come back stronger What are your goals for December?

Week 13 of reaching $2,000/month and 300 followers as a video editor Stats Income: $1,000 Clients: 2 Followers: 295 Last week I finally got some more work to do for my clients I helped one of my clients come up with new formats and concepts for his ads So we took his best-performing ads and created two new formats/concepts based on them We don’t really know how they’ve performed yet, but since it’s the first time with the new style, we’ve got to learn and grow from the data I really enjoy creating content that has a direct impact on my clients’ businesses I still have a lot to learn and improve, but we take it one step at a time What type of videos do you enjoy editing the most? 👇

Week 12 of reaching $2,000/month and 300 followers as a video editor Stats Income: $150 (This month) Clients: 2 Followers: 286 Last week was pretty chill There was some delay in the recording for my clients, so I didn’t have much to do I spent the week improving my portfolio, watching a course on how to make better ads, and learning new editing skills Nice to have some time for the small things But this week, we’re back to editing new videos for the clients 1% better every day Let’s gooo!!

Week 11 of reaching $2,000/month and 300 followers as a video editor Stats Income: $150 Clients: 3 Followers: 263 Something I’ve learned the past few weeks is: stick to your rates An old client reached out, asking me to edit two videos for him. Since the last time I worked with him, I’ve increased my rates because my editing has improved a lot But since he was an old client, I found it so hard to tell him my new price This led to me accepting a WAY lower price than I’m worth. Still, I wanted to make the videos as good as possible, so I spent a lot of time on them But, when the videos were done and I received the payment, it felt like I had wasted my time and energy So from now on, I’ll always stand up for my rates and never accept anything below that Let’s keep learning

Week 10 of reaching $2,000/month and 300 followers as a video editor Stats Income: $100 Clients: 3 Followers: 245 Last week I complained that I had no work to do, then one day later, all my clients wanted videos at the same time So I spent the whole week editing VSLs, ads and more It felt so nice to finally have videos to edit, especially after improving my design skills and creativity in my edits This week will also be spent editing the rest of the videos What’s your goal for the week?

Week 9 of reaching $2,000/month and 300 followers as a video editor Stats Income: $100 Clients: 1 Followers: 202 I feel so far away from my goal, but at the same time so close The past few weeks, I’ve closed clients, but I’m still waiting for work. Therefore, I don’t count them as clients yet, you never know what might happen If I just got videos to edit, I might’ve already reached $2,000/month However, I’m spending my time trying to get better. Last week, I focused on design, making my videos look more professional and making the message clearer Also, thank you all for helping me reach 200 followers, it means a lot! Now we’re aiming for 300! Let’s keep improving

The best advice I can give to every editor Invest in yourself Invest in better gear Invest in courses Invest in your health Since I started editing 10 months ago, I’ve invested in all of these And it has saved me a lot of time and helped me improve way faster I usually think like this: Work > get paid > invest What’s the best thing you’ve invested in?

The best thing about editing When I started video editing, I thought it was fun just to edit videos But now, I feel that the most fulfilling part is helping the client Helping them improve their content, look more professional, and get viewers to actually watch the video That’s what’s fun now Sometimes, when I don’t get any replies to my outreach, I can literally get angry, because I genuinely want to improve their videos And I know how much better they would perform with better editing At the end of the day, it’s not just about cutting clips, it’s about creating something that makes people feel something and take action on it That’s what makes this work so damn rewarding

Revisions are really the best teacher In the beginning, I saw revisions as an insult to my work But after working with a couple of clients, I’ve learned that revisions actually force you to improve There are so many editing styles and animations that I wouldn’t have learned if I didn’t get those revisions And now I’m happy about it So, don’t see revisions as an insult, see them as an opportunity to improve 📈 (The photo is when my cat teached me After Effects, she is a beast!)

Week 8 of reaching $2,000/month and 200 followers as a video editor Stats Clients: 1 Income: $0 (This month) Followers: 198 (SO CLOSEEEE) It’s been quite a chill week for me After two weeks of ups and downs, it felt pretty good to have a week without problems But I realized that I don’t have any structure in my work Some days I wake up and don’t even know what I should prioritize or do, which has killed my momentum So, from now on I’m going to have a system for my work to stay consistent and reach my goals What are your best tips to stay consistent?
