The most surreal part of AUSA for me occurred on the last evening at the formal dinner. I was walking past a group of people talking when a hand reached out and stopped me. “I know who you are. I’ve seen what you’re doing on social media, and wanted to say keep up the good work telling the Army story.” It was the Vice Chief and Acting Chief of Staff of the Army.
