Debbie Harry against a wall of records, wearing a T-shirt from the 1978 Telluride Film Festival. Look over her shoulder and there's the Shangri-Las' I Can Never Go Home Anymore. Blondie came out of the girl-group records, and you can hear it. One of their very first demos, in 1975, was a cover of the Shangri-Las' "Out in the Streets," and their first two albums were produced by Richard Gottehrer, who had worked with the Angels and other girl groups in the early '60s. 💛 Which girl-group song would you want to hear Blondie cover? 💛 👇️

Noel Redding, Jimi Hendrix and Mitch Mitchell at Gered Mankowitz's studio in London, March 1967. Noel had come to town to audition as a guitarist for Eric Burdon's new Animals, and Chas Chandler talked him into playing bass for Jimi. Mitch came over from Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames, which was funny, because the band Jimi had been fronting in New York the summer before was called Jimmy James and the Blue Flames. Eight days after this session, "Purple Haze" came out, and before the month was over, Jimi had set his guitar on fire for the first time, at the London Astoria. 💜 Noel Redding or Mitch Mitchell: who's the more underrated member of the Experience? 💜 👇️
