This week, UNICEF Representative, Ms. Meritxell Relaño Arana and the UNICEF team welcomed the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) @BMZ_Bund and the German Embassy, accompanied by a high-level delegation, to the rehabilitated water station in Duma, Rural Damascus, where they witnessed first-hand the impact of their investment in restoring essential services for communities. In a city where water networks were once completely cut off, 🇩🇪 through @KfW_FZ_int. and UNICEF has brought safe, reliable water back to life. Through the rehabilitation of nine wells and critical infrastructure, more than 300,000 people now have access to clean, treated water directly in their homes. During the visit, the delegation met with senior officials of the Damascus and Rural Damascus Water Establishment and community members, hearing directly their feedback on the project’s impact while highlighting the strong partnership with the Ministry of Energy. Beyond restoring water supply, this investment is strengthening community resilience, ensuring water systems are more reliable, sustainable, and better equipped to withstand future shocks. From crisis to recovery, this milestone reflects the power of strong partnerships and sustained commitment. UNICEF, together with Germany, KfW and partners, continues to stand with communities to rebuild vital services and restore dignity for every child and every family. #ForEveryChild #Water #Syria #GermanyWithSyrians #GermanyinSyria @RelanoMeritxell @UNICEFmena @UNinSyria @KfW_FZ_int @BMZ_Bund
