I sympathize with programmers who worked on systems they never cared about, for customers they didn't connect with, and took all their working joy from the mechanical act of turning tickets into code. You have to care about the software to be excited about making it w/ agents!

A huge amount of the Anti-AI code sentiment massively overestimates the quality of human code outside of a very small set of open source and high quality company codebases. Human Slop is everywhere and can trivially be improved on by any opus level model.
i have low conviction on model routers - very open to changing my mind but this is a snapshot of my current thoughts
- i don't think it's good to not be aware of what model you're using. coding with LLMs is a skill you develop and getting a feel for models is part of that
- people (at scale) don't have this skill right now which is why a lot of companies are complaining that people are using expensive models for dumb things. a model router promises to solve this without the user having to do anything but i think the issue is missing feedback loops to the user. id rather we figure out how to help users get smarter
- i dont even know how much you can model route when factoring in things like prompt cache. only so much you can do
- their effectiveness is a bit exaggerated by the same dynamic that's impacting everything AI. so many companies desperately searching for opportunities and trying anything. model routing is the one thing models labs cannot do so everyone is jumping on it
In light of what happened, I'm doubling down on skills like /improve.
A frontier model got pulled. If it happened once, it's gonna happen again. Fable today. 4.9 tomorrow or maybe gpt 6 one day.
So, treat intelligence as borrowed. Drain intelligence when it's available. Build a catalog of plans today. Then implement later with a cheaper, open source, or a model you control.
Build the backlog now.

gov keeps handing anthropic marketing Ws
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees.
The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance.
Access to all other Claude models is not affected.
We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible.

Prompt + YOLO = vibe coding
Prompt + review code, tests, iteration = agentic development

I had Claude Code build the same UI in 5 different stacks. React, Hotwire, Inertia+Vue, Inertia+React, and vanilla HTML/JS. Same spec, same features. The quality gap between frameworks was massive. Wrote up what happened and what I think it means for picking a stack in 2026.

If you invented a machine that:
- Runs on grass
- Produces high-quality protein
- Fertilises soil while operating
- Builds topsoil
- Requires zero electricity
- Self-replicates
- Provides 100+ byproducts (leather, tallow, gelatin, etc.)
You'd win every environmental award.
We call it a cow and want to ban it.
Genius.

PHP needs a rebrand.
Not a community design competition.
A full overhaul of the brand, positioning, and strategy. Done by external professionals.
PHP as a product is fantastic. The way it’s packaged and presented is frightful.
This isn’t the only step, but it’s a big one.

This is telling.
AI will soon be the distribution channel. A potent one.
If you're selling advertising space or push affiliate products on your blog - it's pretty much over in a few years.
Now how do we use AI channels to promote our products?
The AI effect is wild — this is traffic to tailwindcss.com compared with monthly downloads of the tailwindcss package.
Interesting times navigating this and figuring out what to do with it for sure!

Agreed.
What actually happened was that we stopped valuing having a family and instead became hyper focused on individual goals.
The myriad books, courses, content, slogans over the past 50 years all reinforced the same incentive: your fulfillment is largely from professional endeavors so double down and lean in.
The byproduct was that having a family became secondary and conveyed less status.
Unless we dismantle these laggard ideas and find incentives to celebrate and elevate family formation, our birthrates will continue to fall.

Love to see it. Evangelizing frameworks is fun, but fatherhood and starting a family? Divine.
Culture is shifting.
@Nike just released a pro-family ad, highlighting Scottie Scheffler’s baby son as a “win”
