Bathism is a secular Arab nationalist ideology that was officially adopted by the Iraqi and Syrian states. When these states began to collapse with the US war in Iraq, all the secular Bathists from Sunni backgrounds joined Wahhabi terrorist groups like ISIS. As a result, over the past twenty years, Wahhabism has been transformed and merged with Bathism. Most Wahhabis today, especially from Iraq and Syria, are really Bathist-Wahhabi hybrids (e.g., Goylani, Tallhaberg, Jewmas, et al). Owing to Bathist influence, they are secular Arab nationalists and supremacists. They also have a deep ethnic hatred towards Persians, Kurds, and Turks as they are non-Arab. However, they express this hatred through Wahhabi religious language. They express their hatred of Kurds,Turks, and the Ottoman empire by calling them mushriks, and celebrate Ibn Abd al-Wahhab's jihad campaign to destroy the Ottomans with the help of the British. They also express their hatred of Persians by calling them Majus mushriks. They have no concern with applying the Sharia, or transnational Islamic solidarity, or jihad and opposition against the US and Israel. They claim that instead what makes them good Muslims is simply that they hate "non-Sunni" sects, by which they mean non-Wahhabi sects associated with non-Arabs.
