The Society for the Rule of Law regrets today’s order from the Chief Justice allowing the unlawful construction of the president’s ballroom project to continue while litigation progresses. As we argued in our brief, Congress has not authorized this project. The president’s attempts to escape that plain fact by invoking national security, while trying to outrun court review by rushing construction, should fail. The Society will continue to argue for the separation of powers and system of checks and balances established by our Constitution. You can read our full brief here: societyfortheruleoflaw.org/w…

This is a good point. Everyone focuses on the avalanche of recalls, but no one seems to ever mention that despite all this massive cost-cutting deregulation nothing got cheeper. The lettuce that makes you shit your pants costs 3-4 times as much as pre-RFK lettuce that didn’t.
The big food manufacturers finally got the deregulation that they wanted, but it didn’t result in our grocery prices going down. It resulted in our grocery prices going up and everyone getting diarrhea, listeria, salmonella, and E. coli.

Remarkable how little political noise it's made here in the U.S. that a major American naval base in Bahrain was basically destroyed, and that this was kept quiet for five months nytimes.com/2026/08/14/us/po…

There is only one explanation for an ICE agent to scoop up a badly bleeding man with a broken neck into his personal vehicle and drive him passed 3 hospitals. They were hoping Oscar would die along the way.
It sounds like today's incident involved a vehicle chase, as Oscar's car is apparently totaled. Did ICE drive him off the road? Media need to look into this. Crash in Salisbury MD, but was then driven by ICE to hospital 90 mins away, passing several others.

I can't get over how the government robbed everyone blind and then just gave the money to corporations. I don't think the outrage is nearly high enough.
Walmart just received a $2.9 billion tariff refund, massively boosting the company's profits. Regular people paid the costs of tariffs by and large across America. But now corporations are getting huge checks from the government, while working people get nothing.

Congratulations, America, You Just Tariffed Yourselves. The White House released a statement blaming Canada for walking away from trade talks, which takes some nerve given that Prime Minister Carney says Washington rewrote the terms at the last minute. Trump’s negotiators apparently believe a deal is something you agree on Tuesday and amend at gunpoint on Friday. So now 50 percent tariffs have landed on nearly 30 billion dollars of Canadian goods, covering everything from lumber to hockey sticks. Here is the part the statement forgot to mention: tariffs are paid by American importers, which means American builders, retailers and families just got handed a 50 percent cost increase courtesy of their own government. The US Chamber of Commerce warned exactly this would happen.
Tonight, Canada declined to finalize the trade deal under the terms agreed earlier this week. Despite the U.S. offer to Canada to receive the best treatment of any major exporter to our market, new demands and walk backs of other commitments by Canada have upended the careful balance reached in the past days. In addition, Canada is continuing to maintain its prolonged retaliation against the United States, including, among other things, flat-out prohibitions on certain American goods and services. For decades, Canada has enjoyed the most favorable access to the U.S. market of any country. And from the beginning of President Trump’s trade program, Canada has continued to enjoy the best treatment in the world, even after – like China – retaliating against the United States. This week, the United States agreed to provide even better treatment to Canada, offering significant tariff reductions on steel, aluminum, autos, and lumber. The U.S. offer was also forward looking, and included a historic economic and national security partnership to cooperate on export controls, combat transshipment, enhance digital trade, and align certain external tariffs. The offer would have led to supply chain coordination on aerospace, complementary actions to address unfair trade practices, critical minerals cooperation, increased enforcement against imports produced with forced labor, and the announcement of formal U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) negotiations. This is a missed opportunity for Canada to partner with the United States, which is the fastest growing economy in the G7.

Did you all read Project 2025? Because the destabilization of the food supply was part of it and we are now living it in real time.

This is what today’s lunch service for 217 people actually cost, just to illustrate something to the MAGA crowd (and specifically @SecKennedy and anyone who enables this) that seem genuinely incapable of understanding what food costs. And before anyone starts screaming about a bunch of bullshit, this isn’t even really about catering. It’s about the fact that a shocking number of people have absolutely no idea how to cost a meal. Let’s learn shall we! Heres today’s numbers from my actual lunch service: 🧵

In 2016, 370 economists -including 8 Nobel prize winners- wrote an open letter ahead of the election, warning that Donald Trump promoted *magical thinking* & conspiracy theories regarding jobs, trade, & economic growth. Also in 2016, 50 senior Republican national security & foreign policy officials signed & published an open letter stating DJT lacked the character, values, experience, & temperament to control & command the United States military & its nuclear arsenal. In 2017 37 psychiatrists, psychologists, & social workers signed an open letter asserting that Trump manifested a "grave emotional instability", with impulsive rage & an inability to tolerate dissent. In 2024, 13 former officials who served directly under Trump signed an open letter warning that he desired absolutely unchecked power & that his admiration for authoritarian figures presented a direct danger to Democracy. Those are just a handful of the open letters. The experts of EVERYTHING have been warning us all along. Anyone still supporting this man should be considered a complete dumbfuck forever & ever for not listening.

People will act like this material doesn’t work, but there is nothing high tech or unproven about this. We have had the capacity to scale bioplastics for decades. We just use petroplastics because oil corporations control governments.
✨🇨🇳China's "Bamboo Replaces Plastic" initiative drives production of eco-friendly bags and tableware made from fast-growing bamboo. These products fully biodegrade in 4–6 months with no microplastic residue, and cut carbon footprints by up to 70% versus their plastic equivalents.

Yale researchers found we could expand Medicare to 50 for $180 billion a year. $180 billion is less than the $250 billion increase the House just passed for the Department of War. We literally could have healthcare over warfare.

many years ago I'd heard a libertarian argue--in all seriousness--that federal regulations for food, drugs, medical care, construction, any sort of manufacturing of anything was not needed because these businesses/industries would "police themselves." laughable at the time but in 2026, not so funny.
People in Wisconsin and Minnesota are now sick with E. coli and salmonella from alfalfa sprouts as officials take preliminary steps toward a recall.

The 6 richest men in America-Elon Musk, Larry Page, Jeff Bezos, Sergey Brin, Michael Dell & Larry Ellison-got $977 billion richer since Trump’s election. These 6 men are now worth $2.1 trillion, while Trump took food away from 4 million hungry Americans. That’s oligarchy.
At least 4 million people have already been thrown off SNAP since Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill Act passed last year.
