Tuberville said the quiet part out loud. Trump (and he apparently) are on Putin’s side. Also, he’s wrong. The Ukrainian people will decide. It’s their country.
Tuberville: "Zelensky will play hardball, but you know what? He's not even a player in the game. Putin, President Trump, and the people on our side will make the final decision about Ukraine's future."

I love things like this, and finding weird outliers. Like why is July 1 so unlikely? It sticks out like a sore thumb (other than July 2) compared to the close dates to it. What could explain that?
Really odd that Christmas Day is the most uncommon birthday.

Vance endorsed AfD and Orban earlier in this term.
From VP pool report (which included a readout of Vance interview with @MarkHalperin): "Vance declined to endorse Netanyahu and replied that he endorses American candidates and is not getting involved in Israeli elections"
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Vance said he endorses American candidates and is not getting involved in Israeli elections, but in April 2026 he spoke at a campaign rally for Viktor Orban in Hungary and urged voters to reelect him. latimes.com/world-nation/s… theguardian.com/world/2026/apr… x.com/christopherhal…

As long as I live, I will never, ever get over how losing twenty 6- and 7-year-old children days before Christmas wasn’t the end of guns in this country.

If Shane Steichen becomes available after the season, I see him as by far the most likely 2027 Eagles Head Coach, if the Eagles also make a move.
Colts relieved Chris Ballard of his duties as General Manager.

He’s somehow ended up in this worst-of-both-worlds situation where he owns the most unpopular parts of both America First and Neocon foreign policy at the same time
Replying to @dilanesper
Had President Trump simply kept the JCPOA in place, it would have almost certainly been renewed and there'd be no war with Iran and no closure of the straits of hormuz and no spike in diesel and gas prices, and things would be fine for Republicans.

It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. To understand why this is so appalling, it’s important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically. Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, become the first Somali-American legislator elected to public office in the U.S., and win a seat in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump Administration’s fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country. Now the Administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized, and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone — all to try and uncover a nonexistent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case. Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president. And it’s not the first time this has happened. Under President Trump, the Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies — from the Attorney General of New York, to the former head of the FBI, to members of the Federal Reserve. In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law, and the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omar’s life has been turned upside down, her legal bills have piled up, and she’s been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota. The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar’s political views. Because if this becomes the new normal, there’s no reason to believe it will stop with her — or that future presidents, in either party, won’t do the same.

“We are where we are.” Umm…DON’T START WARS WITH NO AIMS AND NO PLANS TO GET OUT. Ohio State owes that boy a refund.
JD Vance: "I see what Abdul El-Sayed says about the war in Iran. I see him criticizing decisions the president has made, the military has made. But fundamentally we are where we are. In my view, I'd like to know what's Abdul El-Sayed's solution for the problem we have right now? It's easy to criticize something that happened 7 months ago."

Maureen Dowd’s column exposes how Natalie Harp used her access to knife Susie Wiles—showing Trump the Politico Playbook story about Wiles’s daughter profiting from lobbying for Republika Srpska (a pro-Russian Bosnian Serb territory). But Wiles didn't panic; she let television do her dirty work. When Zacharia was tossed onto Hannity, assuming she was in friendly territory, Hannity ambushed her over her fake attorney claims and 14-minute disaster debut. Within 24 hours, Trump showed Zacharia the door, advising her to "reconsider" her job. Dowd chronicles a single, breathtaking week of White House corruption and incompetence: •Kimberly Guilfoyle getting fired as ambassador to Greece after shaking down a donor to pay her $100,000 AmEx bill. •Ric Grenell and Alina Habba Mildon fighting over $5.6 million in misallocated Kennedy Center funds. •Pete Hegseth getting shut down over his "nitwit plan" to livestream a military firing squad execution on Twitch. •Volodymyr Zelenskyy calling out Trump's "sordid deal" with Vladimir Putin over Russian diesel while White House directives throttle Ukraine's Starshield connectivity. “Instead of running the country and dealing with the world he has set on fire, Trump is focused on settling petty squabbles and a web of corruption in his incompetent—and dangerous—court.” Trump’s bubble is getting smaller, more ingrown, and more fractious, leaving an exhausted public to watch an empire bicker over its own demise. nytimes.com/2026/10/17/opini…

My controversial opinion is that heavy drinking with coworkers (especially on work travel) is the only team building activity out there that does what all other team building activities purport to do
It was before my time so I have no idea but maybe the primary purpose of big office parties with lots of boozing was tacitly for the benefit of the young and single employees So when evil people made "meeting a mate at work" something frowned upon, it necessarily died

Vance is confronted by the emotional husband of a soldier killed in Iran War and acts like he had no idea anyone ever died: Q: It's a hard price to pay. There's a failure in the leadership. How will the leadership be held accountable? Vance: If there were failures... This is the first time I've heard of this.

He says the name just fine when he’s begging the Qataris for a personal jet or the Saudis for funding for his son-in-law’s private equity firm. Wonder what’s changed?
Trump on El-Sayed: "His name is actually Abduladadalalalala. It's Adulbabababababa Mohammed Al-Sayed. So his middle name is Mohammed. So I was right. He's a jihadist."
