BREAKING: The President is less than 48 hours away from finding out that Minnesota is harboring Little Canadians just miles from the state capitol.
If MN01 is competitive, the DFL is probably sweeping statewide again. Hard to see Flanagan/Ellison/Filipovich not winning. (Rochester is growing and getting very blue, but what flips the seat would rely on the movement we are seeing in Iowa being replicated north or the border)
NEW — The DCCC is up with its first coordinated spending ad for Jake Johnson as Dems try to target a Trump +12 seat in #MN01.
The 6-figure spot hits GOP Rep. Brad Finstad over his health care votes. The district is home to the Mayo Clinic.

And then if the fire department paid for with those property taxes doesn’t show up…
“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?”
Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century.

If I had to take a shot right now, I would wind up with something like this. With MN's environment looking more in line with an R+2-ish national environment, the DFL is probably slight favorites in both chambers, but the party is probably on pace to underperform the national environment significantly (which is quite a feat with today's polarized electorate).
If (fairly limited) polling is missing something and Minnesota looks to perform more in-line with the national environment, there would off course be very significant upside for the DFL. Notably, both parties have relatively high floors in both chambers.
Likely floors: Uncontested+Solid+Likely:
Senate:
DFL-29
GOP-26
House:
DFL-59
GOP-56
You could probably argue that Minnesota may be the number one place where Trump getting directly involved would have the largest negative effect on the GOP at the state level. The two recent non-partisan MN polls (sponsored by KSTP and Strib/KARE11) have Trump's approval at -24 and -20.
To play devil’s advocate then against the doom and gloom here for the DFL: you could also make a good argument that the gulf between the state and national environments may suggest that if there is a polling error in Minnesota, it would be more likely to favor the DFL with polarization causing the two to converge.
Even a world where MN is more in line with like a D+4 to D+5 year probably means ~74 seats in the House and ~36 in the Senate.
Happy Opener, South Dakota! Foster and I wish you good luck in the field!
Pheasant hunting is part of who we are, and it’s a tradition worth passing on to our kids and grandkids.
As Governor, I partnered with landowners to start the Second Century Initiative, helping turn marginal land into wildlife habitat so the next generation can enjoy the same hunting traditions we grew up with.
Minnesota's Secretary of State received a threatening letter and unidentified white powder on Friday—one of several election offices targeted in recent days. The Postal Inspection Service is testing the substance while investigators work to identify who sent the mailings.

Sen. Dan Sullivan: "Can I ask the moderator a question? We weren't supposed to get these questions beforehand, were we?"
Moderator: "Neither one of you got questions beforehand. Absolutely not."
Sullivan: "Okay, I'm just watching my opponent read from questions that seem to be answered."
