PATA Post-Meeting Field Trip. Day 2: We visited the eastern mountain front of the Andes (Precordillera). There, we observed well-exposed potential faults where Cenozoic units are overthrusting Quaternary alluvial fan deposits.

IAVCEI is saddened to learn that Hans-Ulrich Schmincke passed away on 24/08/24 at the age of 86. He was SG of IAVCEI between 1983-1991, and awarded the Thorarinsson medal in 1993. During his mandate, he revamped the publication model of BV, a legacy that we profit from today
