Cuba's foreign minister Bruno Rodriguez spoke today, days before the UN vote on the blockade. He showed papers on camera: "a directive from the State Department to US embassies pressuring governments, asking them not to vote for Cuba's propaganda." The harm, he said, is by design: "these are planned harms: deliberately designed to destabilize the country by generating suffering." He named Orlando Gutierrez Boronat, who appeared at the anti-Cuba event the US mission hosted inside the UN this week -- number 52 on the terror list Cuba delivered to the US Embassy in 2023: "a terrorist and a swindler... a terrorist and a thief." His groups are funded by the National Endowment for Democracy and USAID, both US government-funded, with "more than 30 million in federal funds" since 2020. Audits show "$570,000 on personal trips" and "$172,000 on luxury items for his home." The blockade itself, he said, is a crime in progress: "a military superpower, nuclear, economic, technological commits an atrocious, ongoing act of abuse against a small, peaceful nation... an act of genocide as defined in the conventions, in the Geneva Convention." And "no pretext of any nature could serve to justify acts of genocide or acts of collective punishment." US voters in 2026 polls, he noted, "overwhelmingly oppose the energy siege, the collective punishment, the blockade" -- the fuel and trade cuts shaping daily life. The policy survives on "a small corrupt fascist clique... based fundamentally in South Florida... that profits from suffering and death in Cuba." On Florida's arrest warrant for Raul Castro: "an infamous and fruitless act. It has no legal value, no ethical value... no practical value." The policy "will have to change, will have to change with this government, the next, or the one after." And Cuba, he said, "will not be defeated, not be beaten... will not surrender," defending "the independence and sovereignty of every state on Earth to the very end."
