Industrial Robots come in all shapes & sizes. From part handling to welding, painting, packaging & quality control - there’s a Robot for that!
Here’s an application we carried out for an #aerospace parts manufacturing project, w/t Toshiba robotics.

Commissioning is where the magic happens!
It's often the culmination of the overall mechanical & electrical design elements and the first time the 'concept' is proven. Documentation inc. P&IDs, electrical schematics/wiring diagrams can save hours here. #ControlSystems #Automation
Manufacturing accounts for the largest share of PLC installations, with 52% of global PLCs deployed in this sector as of 2022.
Siemens is the largest PLC manufacturer, holding a 23% global market share in 2022, according to Statista.

That’s Moore’s Law right there ⬇️
A modern smartphone also has over 100,000 times the processing power and millions of times more memory than the computer used for the first moon landing in 1969.
The Regency TR-1 - the first commercial transistor radio, launched in 1954 - contained exactly four transistors and cost the equivalent of about $500 in today's money.
A modern smartphone contains approximately 15-19 billion transistors and costs roughly the same.
Production Lines across the world rely on #Automation and #ControlSystems. Often, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) are at the heart of the process. These 'brains' of manufacturing work away day in day out, completely unnoticed, ensuring reliable production 24/7 #UKmfg

From $12.46 Billion 2025 to an est. $26.40 Billion 2034. That's what you do when you're SERIOUS about Manufacturing. Policies prioritising #Automation & Robotics investment are non negotiable, if Andy Burnham is serious about Reindustrialisation and #UKMfg
From Water & Wastewater, Energy, Manufacturing, Food & Beverages and Healthcare - we’ve seen increased levels of #Cyber attacks take place across industry. #Automation and #ControlSystems are at risk, which now includes French Supermarket Refrigerators ⬇️ bbc.co.uk/news/articles/crq5…
RFID Systems can be a game changer when it comes to accurately tracking parts and products throughout the production process. They're often hugely beneficial to Manufacturers and #Automation users who integrate RFID technology within their #ControlSystems.

The Hoover Dam is famous for its power generation - approx. 4 billion kilowatt-hours per year, equivalent to powering 1.3M homes.
Although the Hydro Electric solution we supplied was considerably smaller, it still allowed accurate control and monitoring... 1/2

Biggest issue when hardware fails/original HMI is damaged and replacement is needed. We get called to users who have no plan in place or don’t realise they have a problem. Add in IIoT safeguards, passwords & user credentials, which can also be unknown, and it can be a challenge.

You make a great point @macdonaldncode, it needs consideration for sure. Software should be included in the docs handover at the end of every project, or following any updates, so a backup copy is safely secured. Not all devs or suppliers prioritise this and problems can occur.
Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) reliably Control and Monitor Industrial #Automation & Machinery. They contain bespoke software that's been designed for that specific application - sometimes the only working version of the software in the entire world 👊

Getting production lines back up & running at an unearthly hour or PLC upgrades, in harsh environments, one single wire at a time… feels a million miles from ‘kinda chic’.
But totally get the sentiment @Siemens
Every solution should be ‘kinda chic’ to the end user. Love it.

Steeplejack Fred Dibnah single-handedly demolishes a massive chimney stack, brick by brick, from the top down.
Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) are a great way to monitor and control #Automation. However, once they become obsolete, like some Rockwell PanelView Plus HMIs, carful consideration is needed to mitigate the risks of potentially lengthy downtime should they fail.
