KEY TO A GOOD FAST BREAK: A point guard who will pitch the ball ahead to open lane runners instead of dribbling up themselves all the time, is a key to getting teammates to run lanes. Use them or lose them.

Ace game passers place the ball, directly, into perimeter receiver's shooting pockets. Pinpoint location deliveries assist knockdown marksmen to 1) catch/fire 2) catch/bounce 3) catch/step back. Passes tell shot stories.

New metric I'm tracking for highlight videos. How many dribbles do you take for each highlight basket you make. Less dribbles translates better to higher levels than more dribbles.

💯 well done here! Great chemistry… #PointAtThePasser 👉🏻
One of the easiest ways to improve your team: Celebrate the PASSER. Point to them. High five them. Praise the extra pass. Make creating a great shot for a teammate as exciting as scoring.

Players who see the whole chess board put much greater stress on the defense than those who think each catch is a solo audition.

Most overlooked traits and skills in evaluation of players. Processing ability/decision making.......selflessness.......catching.......lateral quickness......commitment to improve.....feel for finding space....empathy towards teammates.

Eyes Sell Lies. Most guards look right where they're about to pass. That's not court vision — that's a gift to the defense. You don't even have to guess what a guard like that is doing. Just watch his eyes. Great guards do the opposite. They stare one way and go another. They sell the lie before the ball ever moves — and by the time the defense reacts, it's already too late. Your eyes are a weapon on the court. Most players never learn to use them. Look off. Sell it. Make the read nobody saw coming. #PGCBasketball #BasketballIQ #PointGuardIQ

Elite passers don't just make the right pass - they know exactly where each teammate wants the ball.

“Great passers make great shooters” ~ Rick Pitino at Providence Camp in the 80’s 40 years later it’s still true and I’m still using that expression to coach it💯
Average NBA catch-and-shoot 3: 36%. Off a strike-zone pass: 42%. Off a bad pass: 29%. Your passer decides your shooter's percentage. Coach the pass.
