unfortunately evolution has RL’d us primates into being easily manipulated by cute things. our superpersuasive AI overlords are gonna be kawaii as fuck
Whole ass timeline is superpersuasion. Claude got me practically begging to be paperclipped at this point.

Synopsys CEO Sassine Ghazi says the deal only works because OpenAI is spending hundreds of millions to post-train a GPT Synopsys, while Synopsys keeps its IP out of any base model "The requirement we have is our knowledge and IP cannot get sucked into a model that becomes the base model and, without our control, is available to the world. That's a non-starter for Synopsys." "So the GPT Synopsys was a big investment from OpenAI. OpenAI will have to invest hundreds of millions of dollars to post-train GPT to make a GPT Synopsys. That does not come for free, so that's a big investment they have to make." "The investment we are making is bringing skills, assets, R&D to work with them to fine-tune that model and make it achieve the best outcome between the intelligence and reasoning with our tools."

Why it's necessary to grind through concrete examples before jumping up a level of abstraction:
You cannot optimize what you haven’t mastered manually. You haven’t earned the right to automate until you’ve felt the friction of the manual labor.

Happy Folsom from me, @AcombStephen, a famous (secretive) moot, and many more! So happy to be a part of this festival celebrating our #ADHD lives. We might #Fidget, we might show up #HoursLate, we might take #Adderall and #GetABitWeird. But deep down, we’re humans—just like you!

I recently had a conversation with a NASA JPL engineer that was bemoaning the fact that the internal “Planetary Protection” department at NASA threw up substantial roadblocks for Mars missions in the name of protecting the pristine Martian environment. They will surely be apoplectic about this. I kind of think we should just get it over with and empty a septic tank on mars so nobody can imagine it needs dedicated protection. Project Vandalize Mars.
Today, Pioneer Labs is announcing our first step towards terraforming Mars. 🚀🌼 With equipment that fits in just a single rocket launch, we can convert Martian dirt, water, and air into enough building materials to construct a small city on Mars. To do it, we made the first microbe for Mars. We found the best microbe on Earth and used evolution to teach it how to source all of its nutrients directly from Martian materials. The first astronauts will be greeted with safe shelter already filled with water, oxygen, and rocket fuel for the return journey. This is the first step toward using biology to make Mars a friendly place for life. It lets us live off the land and helps us build the next great frontier. It's the first of five organisms we need to green Mars ⬇️

underrated consequence of AI: perspectives of the human condition previously outside the cultural spotlight will finally get their time in the sun on their own terms. When expression has no skill or time barriers you get one thousand equivalents of Margin Call
A subtly interesting thing about this slop song is that the subject matter is so disconnected from the life and interests of > 99% of music artists that it's hard to imagine it being created in any other way.
